You know it's a shame too because Kassandra is actually pretty likable. The voice actress and motion capture person they got for her was great, full of personality and very vibrant. I appreciate how well they were able to animate things like kassandra rolling her eyes or looking exasperated, and if the game's story was better it would be really up there because they had a likable protagonist in Kassandra.

Even with the dumb dialogue choice decisions. Props to her for being able to sell me on jerk Kassandra and nice guy Kassandra in the same scene regardless if it makes sense.

I remember when the game first came out the two voice actors did a fun little video answering random questions on Twitter and showed both Kassandra and Alexios were just fantastic and charming all around.

Yeah, the VA and motion capture was all pretty great I found as well.

I did enjoy the atlantis DLC myself for the most part, but still felt like a lot of the game. 'Alright' or just not sticking the landing in a lot of places sadly.

Help guys, what should I do for fate of atlantis? In it, you have Hermes who's a complete pathetic lapdog of Persephone and is drooling over her, doing her bidding. I can either join him in a mission to slaughter some afterlife humans (I don't care about the humans, I just don't want to do it because Persephone told me to) or refuse and have him become an enemy. Or if I do end up assassinating the humans, I can either high five him or reprimand him, in which case he threatens me.

I just don't know what to do. I'd like to slap his shit if possible but I'm worried he has something useful for me like hermes shoes that make me fly. I can't believe they made the guy behind the staff a loser obsessed over Persephone like a Snape.

yeah I played as Alexios and thought his voice actor did a really good job too. Actually the art direction was probably the best aspect of the game tbh. The gameplay was fun most of the time but the AI is just too dumb

Ok that is legit adorable. They're honestly just extremely likable.

They're like a real life version of Evie and Frye from AC Syndicate, and I think Odyssey should have gone that direction with the siblings, with a bit more rivalry.

Just beat episode 1 and I'm now in Hades realm. I take it back I miss elysium, the place was gorgeous and now I'm in this awful post apocalyptic looking landscape that's basically just the pride lands from lion king after the hyenas took over, completely dead. With hell hounds to boot

Holy crap. Phoebe and Brasidas are in the underworld. Back in episode 1 Persephone tried to lure Kassandra to her cause by saying she could revive one of them (and then of course reneged on that deal) and now I've met both of them and done their sidequests.

A nice way for the game to give them a sendoff in the afterlife. Although Brasidas decided to stay in the underworld to help lost souls. Phoebe went on to Elysium to find her parents. Yet the previous episode just established that Elysium is a fake paradise so...?

Defeated Hades, who turned out to be a chump. They kept showing Poseidon in his scenes, and here it is, episode 3: Atlantis.

This is it, this is what it was all building up towards. This is actually Atlantis. Not that big empty cave in Greece, this is what Atlantis looked like.

So far, I have to say, I liked Elysium, didn't like the Underworld too much however it seemed shorter, and now Atlantis seems like the big one, hopefully they end the DLC out with a bang.

You know what I love is cracking the code to stat maxing and basically breaking the game. I hit for 700% critical damage, and that's 700% of my already 100,000 assassin damage. My critical hit chance is 100%. So pretty much every assassin kill is a one hit kill. Sometimes even if I get in a fight I can do one-hit-kills.

While the whole inventory system and damage modifiers system is really obtuse and tedious, I got some great gear with some great stats, engraved the missing damage modifiers they needed to achieve the above, and now even in the DLC which I'm assuming they meant to make it way tougher, it's been super easy.

I really hope Valhalla combat is good, it's gonna be tough going from a literal one-hit-god to button mashing and dodging again.

They leaned a lot harder into it, certainly.

I liked it myself.

Also it has a couple QoL upgrades that I have trouble going back and losing, namely that you can get your bird to loot shit you kill with a bow.

Atlantis is pretty beautiful.

Wait just one minute. Is Atlantis... is this the place from those flashbacks in the first few assassin's creed games all those years ago? Isu and human living together, with Isu being slave drivers of humans, is this the city? My memory is hazy but if anyone remembers way back in AC 2 and 3 and Brotherhood and the ezio trilogy, you'd find hidden videos that showed a futuristic looking city that was destroyed, was it Atlantis this whole time? Hell of a way to reveal it in a DLC for a game. And they dropped names I recognize but don't remember, Minerva and Juno and who else. I remember these being significant in the previous games but it's been a decade. Atlantis has these little statue pillars with sort of journal entries that do a bit more world building.

And what's the deal with Layla, so she's evil now? Corrupted by the staff or something? That's an interesting turn that also just suddenly happened for the DLC and was not present at all in the main game. I'm not invested in the modern day story but I found Layla pretty inoffensive, I'd almost say I like her.

That's cool, I hope there's a lot of them that help out with the gameplay. I'm not much of a bow user myself except in a pinch, for my preferred playstyle it's Assassin, then Warrior, then Hunter at the absolute end.

Welp... I did it. Beat Fate of Atlantis DLC. So just like with the main story, I was kinda underwhelmed by this ending too.

Also the dlc kinda removes all the mystery of the strange mythologies and isu. So basically in the AC world the isu were this ancient civilization and humans were their creations and any mythological beasts like sphinx or minotaur were the results of human experimentation by the isu. And the ancient gods were just isu. And humans didn't like being slaves to them so there was a war between the 2 races and then I think there was a solar flare from the sun that wiped out everything but humans survived? So kinda like if planet of the apes but planet of the... humans. And where does the templar-assassin thing of the series fit in? I guess since there are leftover ancient weapons from the isu both groups search for it to take over the world/liberate the world etc.

It... doesn't?

What's interesting is that since this is set in ancient greece, they went with the Greek God names for the dlc content and general world building, but the AC series started with the Roman names, so you have this mishmash of the Roman analogous Isu "gods" with the greek isu "gods"

Like Poseidon fighting Juno and Aita

The modern day bits were extremely sparse and I couldn't care about this new team any more than I did the old team, but despite that honestly if I had to choose between Desmond or Layla as protagonist I would be fine with Layla as protagonist for the series, despite this weird turn the DLC took with her story arc (which was previously kinda non-existing anyway)

And I still need to do the korfu quest and then lost tales of greece. Glad I left them alone because I want to use the new abilities I gained from the DLC on something

That's great I hope enemies aren't damage sponges because this game deserves a lot of criticisms for that. They are way less damage spongy than Odyssey. Only the zealots (that game's cultists) can absorb a lot of damage.

Kind of? There's a handful of the mythological stuff showing up, but its pretty muted.

If you want a similar game that goes all out on the Greek Myths, look up Immortals: Fenyx Rising. Which is very much "The AC:Odyssey guys had a ton of extra cool stuff that they couldn't fit into the kind-of realistic AC vibe, so here's this game to make up for it"

Korfu quest turned out to be the absolute last thing of the game. Ending had this cool little cutscene that said this weird thing that Kassandra will return in AC valhalla? But the protagonist on the cover of that game is clearly someone else in a completely different time period.

She's part of a questline where she appears and almost gets murked by Eivor before they reluctantly work together. It's actually pretty cool.

I really enjoy Valhalla, people complain it's too long but all the intrigue and dialogue really hit the spot for me. I also really like Eivor as a character.

With the amount of hours I put into it, I liked this game but it had so many flaws. I really hope Valhalla is better, because I don't think there was anything in Odyssey I liked more than in Origins. Sure the environments had more lush greenery just because the setting is Mediterranean rather than a desert, but Origins brought me back to the series, and it had one of the best protagonists ever.

Valhalla is way better in terms of spectacle, cutscenes and how they are animated along with dialogue in my opinion. Eivor isn't as snarky as Kassandra, they are a bit more rough considering they are a Viking but they aren't without humor or the ability to laugh at things at times.

The environments in Valhalla range from snow (of course) to English countryside. A lot of rivers, plains and swampland.

Gameplay wise it shares a lot of things but just done "better" in my opinion. When you do the search action it's MUCH more noticeable and things you ping are way easier to detect. There's no naval combat but you have a longship to coast down rivers and can raid monasteries and other things from it with a group of your own.

You also don't get swamped with gear drops. There are a lot of weapons and armor but it's stuff you find in chests or as a reward for a quest rather than constantly dropping off enemies. You upgrade what you like.

That's encouraging for when I finally get to the game in a few years time.

I'm guessing they kept dialogue trees from odyssey?

Icy snow huh, I remember that setting from 3/AC Rogue and I can't say it's my favorite, but english countryside is nice.

The gear drops and general min/maxing was definitely a bunch of tedious crap in ac odyssey so that's also good to hear.

Yeah there are still dialogue options like Odyssey. A lot of it feels similar but just slightly better or way better to me. A lot more polished.

If it helps most of the game takes place in England (and a few other areas via DLC) so the snowy areas don't dominate the game.

If I had one real issue it's that the game isn't real good at telling you when you should do DLC or push the main story. It gives "power" recommendations but I found they tend to be off, I had one send me into a quest where I just got wrecked even though I was a bit above the recommended level. It's a lot like Odyssey where you have a lot of quests in your log but aren't sure when the best time to do them is.

Wait what the hell you mean "mostly female" and "let the game decide" what have they done this time around.

Why are they going for interchangeable characters that's weak, the reason AC Origins brought me back to the series besides the setting is Bayek, and it wouldn't be the same if they don't have a clear vision of the character with silly stuff like dialogue options that literally just offer flavor text and nothing more.
