$14/hr, 10 hour shifts, mon-fri, no benefits. It pays weekly though and since I don't have a car and have driving anxiety, it's a half-hour walk to and from.

All of that sounds awful.

Beats fast food or retail

How cold/hot does it get where you live? That walk could suck

This sounds like a good idea for some money considering everything you have going on, and walking an hour a day is also a good thing

Depending on the state that's not terrible. In my experience warehouse jobs are far preferable to retail unless it's something extra shitty.

Hard pass. Warehouse jobs in my experience requires you to walk all day.

Either way, pay isnt great(even with overtime) and you arent getting any benefits. Any job is better than no job but I wouldnt get cosy there. Should be a transitional job till you find something better

I'd do that job for a few weeks while looking for something better. Definitely a temp job and not a keeper.

As someone who worked in a warehouse, the job is hard and theres no way I would take one of those jobs without at least $20/hr with benefits

Goddamn man, theres gotta be something better than that in Jersey. Id say since it sounds like youre in pretty dire straights and they have already offered you a position, take it for at least a few weeks just to keep the lights on. But keep looking because I have to think youd be able to find even like a shitty customer service job that allows you to work remote and pays more than $14 an hour.

It's the only job I can feasibly walk to. Buses in my area are weird as hell and I can't afford Ubers/Lyfts.

No benefits for 10 hour shifts 5 days a week? Fuck that dude

14 and no benefits sound awful.

Take the job, but I'd advise you to still keep applying to other jobs.

all things considered tc, this could at least allow you to get caught up and then look for something else

Its bad because of the no benefits. Warehouse work depending on the job is very laborious. And you can get hurt at anytime and the company won't cover shit

I've never worked a warehouse job, but from what I know, is a pretty physical job.

Best thing about those jobs is that there are drugs galore and everyone that works there puts out, especially the married management employees.

No benefits? Fuck that. Warehouse jobs dont pay much, usually the point of them are the good benefits.

$14 hr 4 days a week sounds good for starting out. Its your best option right now. Im happy you took our advice from the last topic.

This. It probably has a little bit more upward mobility, depending on what youre looking for. But the thing is that even if the pay and conditions are unfair, you can help yourself and your family by trying. $700/week is a lot more than $0/week. There have been times where Ive had to swallow my pride and work a job that was beneath me.

Id honestly go over today to explain the communication limitations.

They used to work me like that in fast food and I never got benefits. They even moved my overtime hours to different pay periods to avoid rightfully paying me the overtime that I earned from extra shifts.

I work for Amazon in Providence RI and get 22.30 now and 22.75 in a few months. I also work Sundays that are time and a half.

Four 10 hour days Sat thru tuesday.With the Sundays my take home works out to over $800 a week for 4 days. It's not bad but it depends who you are.

There's also no calling in sick, you just use your personal time, vto, or vacation. It's not bad att all.

I know all Amazon locations aren't the same I'm speaking to one.

Is there really no other jobs? I feel like dental benefits should be your minimum requirement.

That's pretty low pay for warehouse work. I personally don't mind that type of work, but I don't think you'll enjoy it much

Definitely pass on $14 an hour unless there aren't any continually hiring Amazon's around you. It's a constant hiring process for drivers and warehouse.

The warehouse encourages you to move up and make more money as a Supervisor or other position. It's not difficult and doesn't take a great education

I think McDonald's is gonna be a $15 min soon for part timers

The lack of benefits is bothering me considering I'm on a time limit before this tooth abscess spreads and does damage to the rest of my body.

Sounds low for an entry warehouse position, especially since theyre not paying for your insurance.

Perhaps you can negotiate something better, but if notsounds like your back is up against the wall. Do what you must and try to be grateful that theres something at all that might help you and your mother.

I would recommend that if you do take it, stay positive and try to learn everything you can, even outside of your duties, to prove that youre a keeper and worth more. Could be they suck and dont notice, could be that you get a raise in 60-90 days.

Damn, 10 hour shifts and walking 1/2 hr commute in the winter for $14/hr? That's not worth it to me. Is that minimum wage where you live? And what is the weather like? Walking in the cold/rain is no fun.

I would guess Mr_Mucklebones is in a level 3 role like team lead, trainer, or yard specialist
And I would recommend that he never pursue management unless he hopes to be an operations manager someday, because being an internally promoted L4 is almost never worth it
