I know Nintendo doesn't Do patches anymore, but wouldn't this be the exception? If there is a game-breaking glitch? Steve can just kill you for hitting him now. And Steve was already a much better character in Ultimate than Ice Climbers were in Melee, even with wobbling. --- (... He came out of nowhere and won a major with Steve, even beating leo. Supposedly a lot of his practice came from playing against people on elite (could be wrong on this though). Onin won Smash Con (biggest Ult tournament to date) and GOML and acola has won few US, and almost every (that he entered) Japan smash major. Steve is definitely top 1 results wise, and it's not close, but I didn't think he needed to be banned before the tech. With the tech, he definitely is ban-worthy. Esports are in a rough spot right now. Both Leo and Tweek lost their sponsors, I think Sonix did as well, and for smash Beyond the Summit is disbanding after Ultimate Summit 6. Yeah Smash is in a rough spot right now, losing BTS is devastating, I loved the Summit weekends. I have hardly even touched Steve and I don't know the limits of the new tech, but it seems like it would be very easy to setup anytime Steve is in disadvantage. Not just an easy way to escape any multi-hit move or low % combo, but also an easy bait/punish since Steve has no lag. Its not an obvious tech either like Wobbling, characters fall out of multi hit moves all the time naturally, would be hard to determine if the Steve tech was used or if the move just sucks and failed to connect. I am hoping someone like Gimr does a deep dive into the tech and its limitations (Twitter is only posting the crazy benefits), but right now it seems like a full Steve ban is the way to go --- Hello world! ... Steve does tech so you call for a replay review. The Steve may or may not have done it, so you watch 3min of a replay, can't tell what happened, then need to re-watch the whole replay again. When you're wobbled, it's super obvious and doesn't instantly kill you, where Steve's tech has the potential for that. If you have a consistent way to hit your opponent to a platform at certain percents when they could miss a tech, it seems like a pretty useful tactic.
