Before their first studio album came out. There's lots of metaphors and similies, and in some instances it's just happy lyrics with a gleeful backdrop. I don't think they're bland, they always have such a unique sound. Yeah, they have ear worm songs but I fail to see what's wrong with having catchy songs.
