Cards are static as opposed to dynamic and specific types drop from certain enemies during the run, so you'll essentially be discarding them for their ability or shooting with them like it's second nature fairly quickly, allowing you to inch ever closer to a faster time on each run. Colour coding on cards means you won't really need to look at icons, you'll see blue for instance, recognise it as a rifle and remember the discard is a dash attack and execute it where you feel most applicable each time.
