When you work at a big company, you become a spokesperson and role model for the company. You can be fired if you publicly make yourself look bad and you are tied to the company. Just how it is, and I am aware that I am in that situation too. But I'm not a VP so less likely I will be tied back to my company. Also, I don't generally act like an idiot publicly.
