Beneath the Planet of the Apes

Ive never seen any Mad Max movie, is that a theme in them? Why does this trope get used and what is it supposed to mean/represent?

To broaden the trope, how about pieces of media where characters worship a piece of technology from a bygone era, which they dont understand

In Fallout 3 at least I can't think of any reason for it other than "it looks cool"

It is about the idea of superiority, or having a trump card. Many people like to believe that they have a trump card that guarantees victory
