My mom and step-dad both got it fully vaccinated and boosted, and my mom still ended up in the hospital. I have never had a sniffle and never tested positive. They do work at preventing infection. It is thought to lessen the chance of getting it maybe a little, but the real benefit of the vaccine has been preventing hospitalizations for the vast majority. Now if you do back to the nasty Delta variant, the vaccines did help a LOT with stopping the spread. Hopefully the brand new booster will be more effective at stopping the spread of the current variants, at least until a new variant screws everything up. However, I am worried that most won't even get the booster at this point (I did yesterday).
