Yeah fuck me for not wanting to be mistakenly identified as a member/supporter of a terrorist group

you vastly overestimate how much people care about you or a stupid shirt in public

I live in Ohio. We have actual, genuine Qanon supporters here who fly flags and wear branded apparel.

So yes, there is a very real chance that wearing this shirt would get me confused as one of these dipshits.

Oof. Yeah they should add "Star Trek" somewhere on that shirt or something. Fans of the show will understand, but anyone that doesn't know who Q from Star Trek is, will likely assume it's QAnon related.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

I'm just saying, at worst, this seems like ignorance on the designer's part, of either QANON and/or how the imagery might look. it's not some intentionally provocative statement (unless if they're a part of it, and trying to be slick).

as far as I know, the group doesn't use that language or have weird, priest looking guys as their iconography.

To expand on Duran's post (which I can't quote, because he has me blocked, lol) I think a lot of people are really overestimating how many non-Star Trek fans would know who the character "Q" is, and would have him as their first association rather than the currently active terrorist group.

nobody's ignoring anything

people who can't fathom that slapping "Q" and "I'll be watching" on a t-shirt in today's world with what Q is associated with even if that's not explicitly what the shirt is referencing are the ones who are ignoring the context of modern society

They are ignoring context, though. The Ill be watching quote is literally right above the characters on the back. Meaning that if they do associate it with QAnon, they are literally ignoring context thats right under the quote

Why the fuck would anyone want to be seen in public wearing a Star Trek shirt? What's the appeal of owning a piece of clothing with some intellectual property on it? Do people need to know someone's a fan?

Some people like having shirts with stuff they like on it Its a pretty normal and common thing

In all honesty though, I do own a Mario baseball cap that I tend not to wear because it could be mistaken for a MAGA hat

it doesn't have to be intentionally provocative in order to be misconstrued. and the stuff on the back isn't always gonna be visible to someone, and if they see just the front with the Q on it, they might not know any better.

But thats why context matters. Just assuming something like it must mean QAnon is a big leap when all you see in the letter Q, which could stand for all sorts of things. But if they use context and maybe walk past them and look, theyd see Q from the show on the back. Even if they didnt know much about Star Trek, it should hopefully not look like QAnon anymore

There are a lot of baseball teams across the country that wear red hats. Now Im not a fan of one of those teams, but I can imagine getting annoyed at this type of comment if I was

Mistaking a normal red hat for a MAGA hat seems like a you problem (for the person doing the mistaking)

One of my friends had a red "Make America Gay Again" cap, and had to stop wearing it due to how indistinguishable it is from a MAGA cap. It's the same font and everything, and too many people were complimenting her on it were MAGAs

It's possible anyone who isn't stupid would think twice and realize it's not QAnon but the people who believe in QAnon ARE stupid. Do you want them to think you're one of them?

I could also see osme of them buying this shirt and thinking they're being clever and subtle like using the ok sign as a secret code.

All of this could be so kved by having Star Trek written on the shirt somewhere; not to mention it would be better for their brand recognition since someone could easily go "I have no idea who that guy is" if they just don't know Star trek

Hell, just having the typical Star Trek uniform badge on it somewhere would help distinguish it.
