I started modding Skyrim a few weeks back, even made a topic on this board requesting recommended mods. I have now modded 4 playthroughs to a broken mess, but I'm getting the hang of it. Last playthrough had my 80 hour save file get corrupted due to a broken follower mod.

Now once I figure out how to actually make the character presets on Nexus resemble the ones in my game, I'm going for round 5. Will be trying that mod where you can build your own noble house/town along with Legacy of the Dragonborn.

The only character I got looking right was the Beauty Dunmer preset, but she got lost in the corrupted save and now I can't even get her to look right. So I'm going for another round of deleting all mods/files and reinstalling them one by one.

feel it homie, i've been playing this save for over a week and i'm like level 17 because i keep fucking with mods. i used one of the wabbajack mod packs as a base and added about 100 more of my own favorite mods. 1265 mods in this playthrough lol.

as far as using presets and stuff go, try looking on the page you got it from if they used a particular skin texture/body replacer/eye texture/high poly head/etc. and if there's a particular enb preset they use. i use rudy for obsidian.

if you mean more along the mesh doesn't look right, you can tweak stuff in racemenu. i sculpt all my faces with the brush in the last tab
playing a nord with the realore skin texture

I'm actually in the process of doing an entire fresh install of Skyrim right at this moment. I've always downloaded all the requirements for presets, but usually they look nothing like the character likely due to my load order overwriting the required skins or bodies.
I was finally getting the hang of it and then I got stuck with the dreaded neck seam. Once I fixed that, my character's high poly head would be a much lighter skin tone than the actual body. So I just said fuck it and decided to start from a clean slate again.
Still haven't gotten around to screwing with ENB as I already had to learn a ton about working with Vortex, FNIS and how different mods and the like interact so I got burned out a little on that front.

That's an awesome looking armor, what mod is that?

I think I spent more time modding it than playing it. 1700 hours or so and I've beaten it only once.

Is there actually any reason not to install as esl? I'm asking because some FOMOD give the option, but I don't see why you wouldn't.

I've been hesitant using any of JK's stuff due to people constantly mentioning crashes. I'm already running several graphical enhancements, so doesn't seem worth it.

Thanks, I'll check using a mod item spawner if it's LotB.

im using all jks interiors atm and the only CTD ive had in 20ish hours was in a modded player house (clockwork castle)

not sure what jk stuff doesnt play nice with but I know it has a metric ass ton of compatibility patches. when you run LOOT it'll give a report with warnings that say shit like "you have X and Y downloaded but you don't have the compatibility patch" with a link to the nexus download.

honestly i just cant be assed to make my own list anymore. im doing the septimus 3 modpack with about 100 additional mods and its fuckin baller. true directional movement is life changing. playing a 2H warrior for the first time since the game came out.

I wish I knew how to do that.

I downloaded a Wabbajack mod list but instead of Frostfall it uses the inferior Survival mode.

I want to replace Survival mode with Frostfall but for some reason when I install Frostfall it doesn't appear in my game.

I should be nearing a thousand hours in this game across different systems and I still run into stuff I never knew was there.
Just now, I was directed to the Silent Moons Camp by Legacy of the Dragonborn's first quest. I stumble across this Lunar Steel Mace and figured it was part of LotD as well. But nope, that's apparently from the base game. I've been to Silent Moons Camp at least a dozen times, seems like I never thought to actually run up the stairs outside.

i'm not too sure on that because i've never used either of those things, but isn't survival mode a CC/AE thing? i think that kind of stuff is listed in the plugin list/load order, but not the mod list, since it's part of the base game. are you using mod organizer or vortex? in mod organizer i think you'd just uncheck survival mode from the plugin list, install frostfall and any prerequisites, enable its plugin, and sort with LOOT. adding mods to a wabbajack list has been super finicky for me too, i'm struggling to get certain NPC replacers to work because the list author has a bunch of mods tied together in weird ways. like turning off one of the NPC replacers he has throws a "missing master" error for like 3 of his mods, and attempting to overwrite it gives horrifying results (no skin textures, just HD teeth and eyeballs lol)
