This future of cancelled media doesn't look bright gents, especially went it comes to digital. Companies can literally remove media you paid for from your digital libraries and then you are SOL on it unless you resort to illegal means. Funny how pirates, not companies, are kind of helping with preserving media and are providing one of very few means for newer generations to get exposure.

No. Piracy is a thing because people wanted free shit. Being able to keep media from dying was just a nice bonus.
No piracy is a thing because there is no quality control for media in any form. Your option is to either pay for the product and enjoy it or pay for the product and be disappointed with no way to recoup the cost like literally almost every single other product in existence.

I really hope Netflix just picks it up and let's it continue.

If it's a tax write-off, then I don't think it can be continued in any way, even by another company.

If that's actually true, then the law is fucking stupid and should be changed.

It should be changed so that it can only be applied to unreleased projects. They shouldn't be able to write off stuff they finished, released and got paid for.

even unreleased products has issues see the batgirl film

it should be anything written off goes into the public domain

meaning said batgirl film would have been released free in its unifhsed state

It has to be done to comply with the tax write off law.
I have a game in my Steam library that legally cannot be sold in the US anymore because the localizer got busted for tax evasion. It is off the store, but I can still download and access it.

This is entirely on Amazon.

The localizer didnt own the software, and Steam and Amazon most likely got different kind of contracts, but lets compare apples with pears.

They had distribution rights, which is the same thing at play here. Being unable to sell something is also different from retroactively removing someone's purchases.
