Been playing Mystery Dungeon DX all day. Originally I was not a huge fan of this game and never finished it, but I finally gave it another try and got through the main story. It just sucks that the main story is SOOOOO short and the whole game feels like it was made for the end game. I do really like the mechanics and QoL improvements they made though.

Spike Chunsoft needs to hurry up and make the Explorers of Sky A top 5 game ever made, at least for me remake already, or just make a new Mystery Dungeon game. I actually thought Super Mystery Dungeon (the most recent non-remake) was the best game in the series besides Explorers of Sky. The Rescue Team games...just have not aged well imo and there is only so much a remake could do to improve the problems those first games had. They have been pretty consistent with new titles every 3-5 years so hopefully something is in the works. These games overall are wayyyy better than the mainline games.

Maybe one day I will go back and finish Gates to Infinity, the most bland and forgettable game in the series.

I'm waiting for that game to go on sell before picking it up. I only played the original PMD, but got a lot of mileage out of it.

Loved the first two Mystery Dungeons. Didn't have to play Gates to Infinity to know it can be skipped, but I should play Super Mystery Dungeon.

Oh me too. I played the shit out it back in the day and it actually not a bad game for the time. It has just been so outclassed by the other games in the series, and received a superior remake, so there is no real reason to play the originals anymore.

How so? I went into Gates hoping for an amazing game but it was just...there. I think the two main things that sucked was the story was not nearly as exciting and the starters SUCKED. How you only give people 5 options and you need to pick two of them? Plus gen 5 I think had the worst starters in the history of Pokemon or close to it, and those are three of your options, plus Pikachu and Axew. It was just so blah.

But yeah you need to pick up Super. It was actually fantastic.

So I thought EoS was gonna be a lame sequel.
But it was better in (almost) every way.

There was just an absolute fuck ton of content in Sky, like wayyy more then you would expect. So much that a ton of it I was never even able to get to. To this day I was only ever able to beat one of those floor 99 dungeons. Zero Isle and all those other super hard dungeons I was never able to touch. If they ever remake the game I am for sure going to try to get that shit done.

ah yeah Sky got a great romhacking tool a few years back, and that prompted a ton of em to come out

I actually just downloaded it. May fool around with it a bit but I need a Sky Rom. You know the most trustworthy site to get a rom? I know Nintendo was taking a bunch of them down
