Given the size of the industry, you'd think they would have no trouble getting Congress to agree to lower the age from 21 to 19 or something.

It's funny because I could legally drink at 18 and so could most of the world. I think only U.S.A and some muslim countries set it at 21

But instead of being a deep-think referendum on national issues, in recent days the campaign has been shadowed by sheer happenstance of heartbreaking front-page news: Two college students died in the past three weeks, each after drinking heavily in fraternity houses. One was a 19-year-old Colorado State University student; the other was 18 and attending the University of Colorado.
Pouncing on the fact that Coors seven years ago called for a consideration of lowering the legal drinking age to 18, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee fired off a fund-raising e-mail Thursday morning.

I remember this because it was my first election right after I turned 18. Coors got hammered on this issue and ended up losing to Ken Salazar after Ben Nighthorse Campbell had retired. Colorado was a purple state at this point and Coors (R) lost in a state that Bush (W) won.

There's honestly no reason to. 16 year olds aren't exactly loaded with money and there's no shortage of adults willing to buy them alcohol anyway

As an 18 year old Coor's stance seemed cool but apparently everyone over 21 thought that teenagers were too stupid to be allowed to buy alcohol.
