Didn't they have to release a movie or something to tell gaps in the game's story as well?

Even that dream sequence wasn't in the game.

And I remember there being videos of Nocts dad hugging him as a child, with no context whatsoever and nothing else explained. Then theres the whole redesign of the father. And the removal of Stellar and absolutely no character development of Lunafreya.

Hell that crossover with that girl Sarah from Terra World had much more character development with Noctis.

Oh yeah, and they put in DLC of the other party members afterwards, and tried to fix up the later chapters slog.

What a disappointment...

Kinda. But since the game was going through rewrites as the movie was produced, there ends up being plot holes and gaps in logic anyway.

(Hot take though, but the movie protag was way better than Noct.)

Everything about FFXV was a fucking disaster. Perfect example of unrealistic goals and scope creep destroying a game.

They spent so much fucking time on art and cooking and photos and side quest shit.

Combat system? Hold this one button.

It's a fucking disgrace.

That game was a circus.

And not the fun kind.

People can hate FF15 all they want but the game is the best "me and my bros" game ever made. Brotherhood is a sacred thing as the bonding is a great adventure itself.

There was a story? I thought you just ran from point A to point B and then the end credits roll.

I loved the main cast. There were a few very, very cool story beats. Sadly, everything was undercooked and the plot felt more like the outline of a plot than a story being told.

Ardyn was awesome for what little screen time he actually had.

Only thing I remember about XV is that everything in the game was bad.

I'll never understand people who think 15 is better than 13.

All 15 has is good music, graphics and vibe. Going around the area with your bros to various gas stations and exploring the surrounding area is actually pretty chill. Everything else is absolute crap except like one dungeon

I'll never understand people who think 15 is better than 13.

On a personal level, despite the game being terrible, I did find some sort of pleasure in imagining what could have been. Playing 15 you can see what they were trying to do and failed miserably at. As someone who likes to use their imagination, there is some kind of value to be had there.

13 is the most excellently polished turd I have ever seen. Nothing went wrong. It was built from the ground up to be the garbage put before you.

Even if it has better gameplay, thats just such a soulcrushing an oppressive thing to experience.

Good voice, excellent visual design, cool overall concept for the story... but like everyone else besides the main four, suffered from a lack of screen time and character development.

I bought this game cause it was cheap and the royal edition looks cool. I played it but it felt like i was missing watching something else. The gameplay felt unresponsive. It took a massive amount of room so i deleted it.

i did not like FF15. and i actually liked FF13 so that's saying something.

i sort of don't have faith in FF games going forward, but FF7 Remake was really good so who knows. idc about 16 at all.

FF16 being made by the same people lead by Yoshi-p means everyone who knows them has faith in the game, rightfully so tbh. Also FF7 Remake was amazing.

I have no clue why people insist on it being a fun roadtrip story either. The four guys have zero chemistry with each other.

i haven't had time/friends for an MMO really but i've heard good things, and i played a little bit of trials and it seems fun. feel like i sort of missed the boat on it at this point though idk

should i be excited about FF16?

Also, reminder that FFXV had exclusive Stadia content, and with Stadia soon shutting down that will all be lost forever.

I dunno if excited is the right word. FF14 does have good writing, so at the very least FF16 should as well -- so that's something to look forward to. I'm still skeptical based off the trailers, though, since the premise doesn't seem super appealing to me just yet.

I fully expect FF16 to have several ideas from DMC. The guy who worked on DMC 5's combat is the combat director for FF16.

FF15 gave us one of the best villains in franchise history and Jedi tonberries. So, yay for that I suppose.

It also gave us, the best puzzle dungeon in the franchise: Pitioss.

I love puzzles, so I had a blast in that place. Although, admittedly it took me like 4 hours to clear it lol.

The story for 14 is just okay. They just get the benefit of being an MMO so they can make certain plot points link together with expansions which makes the story seem better than it is. Everyone kept saying the 6.2 patch story was amazing and when I was playing it I had a hard time seeing what was so amazing about it.

Of course this is all subjective. And I really don't get the Zenos hate (And people hated Fordola?). I actually loved him as a character and brought that whole shonen vibe to the game. I guess some people dislike that.

Also the 6.2 Patch story? I personally think its building up to something but it wasn't the best one. That goes to 6.0 and earlier story patches.

Fordola is the only good antagonist in Stormblood. Zenos and Yotsuyu were awful.

Stormblood was kind of trash.

Zenos was good in SB. Yotsuyu was alright until they brought her back just to kill her off anyway. I liked never Fordola.

I enjoyed FFXV for the most part, but so much of it was lost potential. It could have been so much better than it was

Pretty much my thoughts on it. I got the platinum prior to any major patches or DLC and never looked back because I was just disappointed with SE's ineptitude with handling it. Then watching how the DLC fiasco unfolded was just sad.

It has a good story and a world that had a lot of effort into building, but the gameplay was just far too poorly done.

I had fun but the map had so many empty areas and sure they had conversations and radio stuff during some rides but those weren't even you driving parts. A lot of questionable decisions happened.
