I didn't like the show initially because it felt disappointing compared to the books but then liked it and was indifferent to how sucky seasons 5-8 were when 1-4 weren't as good as the books. Over time the lighting, shot composition, visual effects and color saturation hit godly levels of polish. Some of the sequences of ~~Arya escaping the destruction of King's Landing are absolutely~~ ~~gorgeous~~. Also, you can complain about the story all you want, but in terms of television writing, the Game of Thrones story and dialogue are still above average in the later seasons, just not as great as they used to be. Some of the characters are purely bad (~~Euron~~ stands out as particularly terrible) but some are still great. I loved ~~Theon's and Jorah's final scenes, especially.~~ So...even though complaints about the writing are valid, even at it's worst, GoT is still well above average for a TV series in its final seasons, and the visuals are better than most movies in seasons 7 and 8.
