I never had quite the issues most people claimed but I did have crashes and stuff like falling through the floor/ground. Update didn't seem to change that. Ain't heard that one. The defense I've used is actually lore based. Somewhere in game it's stated the police really don't give a fuck. Corruption not paid enough something or the other. They will do their job to a degree but they really don't care if you get away or not.
