I've been looking forward to replaying Prey for weeks. Got it installed a while back for the first time since beating it at release, onto the PS5 looking forward to less load times, hyping myself up to revisit this game. Boot it up...

It's locked at 30 FPS, never got a boost or upgrade and I flat out cannot handle it. I played for half an hour and uninstalled. I LOVED this game, but now that I'm not used to 30FPS anymore it makes anything running in it feel like molasses. Makes me wish we'd never gotten 60 FPS on consoles to begin with because I didn't have a problem with it at all 6 years ago.

There are versions of Prey that run at 60 FPS!

Not that I have access to sadly.

I miss the time when all (console) games were 60 FPS by default and developers didn't try pushing the specs past the console's limits by sacrificing framerate.

It's a different expectation. I know the Switch is a piece of crap, and I never expected that to run well.

One would expect Prey to run better here because obviously it easily can since they got it running at 60FPS on LAST gen hardware over on Xbox. All that's stopping it here is that nobody has flipped a switch. It's frustrating.

I know what you mean. I'm not quite at the level where I can't play something at 30, but I'll definitely go for performance over visuals given the choice. The FPS Boost on Series X has been so good for revisiting old stuff too.

Well, except when it makes games impossible to finish, like GTA IV...
