Just for fun.

I started playing bass in high school, but just in my room along to my favorite bands on the stereo, not with a band, though jammed with a drummer friend of mine a few times. Played that for a couple years and sold it junior year, and didn't get another instrument until I was 25, and I got a Bass, drums, guitar and a keyboard so that I could come up with a Beat for the music video of the kids book I was writing. That was almost 12 years ago. I came up with three or four dozen instrumental songs, some of them not too bad, but I haven't recorded in a couple years, until a few weeks ago came up with two songs, I'm working on my third. I guess you could say it's inspired by the birth of my first child last April, and the album will be called family tree, with song names like first born, dear girl, moonchild, baby pictures. So I figure the next dozen songs I come up with are going to be the album. If you're interested I'll let you know how it goes.

That's funny, I was just working on a bass track.

I don't have a keyboard or anything, just a mouse. I think I want to buy a real guitar or keyboard.

I just use ableton. One day maybe all my efforts will amount to something, but there are a million and 1 artists no one cares about (unless the art is porn).

Make that a million and 2.

It says the clip is no longer available.

I made it public because I guess the private sharing doesn't work that way.

I try to keep a higher quality on my soundcloud, I'm actually starting to get a good-ish following. This one I'm going to put a lot of effort into, less experimentation. It obviously needs more diversity. But I'm sticking to the theme and not "filling it up" with things I think sound good, if you get what I mean.

I think in soundcloud there's an algo to be beaten.

People like your tracks, and the tracks they like repeatedly show up in their feed. So I think long, diverse, and inoffensive tracks are how you grow a following. If it's too aggressive/experimental, people get sick of it being recommended over and over and they remove their like, their engagement.

I think silence after a track gives the user enough time to like the track before soundcloud moves on to the next one.

That sounds really good!

Yeah I'm trying to put a lot of effort in this album as well.

Thanks for the advice. Im probably gonna get a sound cloud once I'm finished.

I recommend buying a guitar and an octave pedal. I use a digitech whammy and it is extremely versatile. I really want a triple graph but theyre so expensive. https://coppersoundpedals.com/product/triplegraph/

@DirtBasedSoap

What does that do?

I want that too, but if I can't get more than 1 or two people to even listen to my music idk. I need to create a game to put it in if anyone's going to hear it I think, that's always been my plan.

My music is pretty robotic repetitive and MIDIish, I definitely need a keyboard or a guitar to get me going.

I think I will buy an electric guitar or a keyboard here soon.
