yeah in what fucking universe is the average house 345k.

i guess when you factor in all the trailer parks across the midwest, sure, it brings the "Average" down. Really should be sectioned off by type of area (urban, rural, etc), and be a $/sqft or $/acre land metric.

Depends on what you're doing now. Most citys have walking, hiking and bike trails, golf courses, Fishing spots, skiing, river rides or etc. And if you're a introvert, why would it even matter?

Just because a city isn't on the coastline doeasnt mean it has nothing to offer depending on the person.

Those who operate outside of the social structure in economic matters exhibit deviant behavior.

Ketchup hoarding is essentially the same as drug dealing or establishing a commune in terms of rejection of social norms.

George Carlin was right when he said this

The fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue dick that's being jammed up their assholes everyday, because the owners of this country know the truth. It's called the American Dreambecause you have to be asleep to believe it.

fyi what this means is either:

  1. houses in 1968 were 61 times cheaper than today
  2. or having a baby costs 61 times more today than then

er actually 51x diff but you get it

Yes.
If someone in Bangladesh is willing to do the work for fifty cents a day, you'd be dumb to pay an American $13 an hour to do it.

That's why the only jobs left are the ones that can't be outsourced easily.

the pandemic showed the importance and wisdom of resilient and localized supply chains wherever possible, that is why fabs are being built in europe and the united states. the labor will cost more, but the long-term results will be more stability in product availability and consequently lower expenses for the producers since they won't struggle with supply issues ever again (at least not for the same reasons as before)

they'll pay American labor more because American labor is better and localized supply chains where possible are more resilient. nobody ever wants to see chip shortages again, and it's not just chips that are important.

That's up to the bean-counters.
If labor + logistics works out by moving things back here, then great.

As-is, it looks like China is going to move into its own "US in the 1970s" era, as everything relocates to India and Vietnam: https://techcrunch.com/2022/09/21/apple-to-move-25-iphone-production-to-india-by-2025-20-ipad-and-apple-watch-to-vietnam/
