Fortunately I work in a great job so the increase doesn't really impact anything other than to serve as a minor annoyance at how fucking screwy and fraudulent American healthcare really is and how this country's politicians will forever kowtow to the billionaires and CEOs.

As an American that moved to Canada: this system is WAY fuckin better.
Walk in clinics with very little wait time.
Easy to make appointments.
Emergency room sucks dicks, and I haven't needed anything major.

But I prefer this 100000000%
Holy shit

I beg for higher taxes. It's bullshit that I have to charge people money for medicine at work. Healthcare is the most important thing in the world. Kinda hard to exercise your rights when you're sick or dead.

Also, Canadian income tax is nearly identical to American in almost every bracket.
3% is the largest gap I could find under 100k/year

My fiance sprained her ankle so bad the ligament snapped and pulled off a sliver of bone.
8 hour wait to be told "use a cane and some Tylenol. Do physio after. Bye!"
Well, after x-rays that is.

We wouldn't even have to raise taxes if we stopped funneling all this money to the military.

Depends, it can vary. If you're going in because you have a life threatening condition or injury you'll get in asap. If you're going in because you don't feel well and want a doctors note you'll be waiting a few hours at least.

It's kinda one of the big crises we're facing up here right now. A lot of hospitals are closing their overnight emergency rooms because staffing is almost non-existent.

The USA difference is they would do something for her and then if you didn't have insurance they would say "congratulations, you now have medical debt forever"

We wouldn't have to raise taxes at all if we just went the UHC route. We're already paying way more in our system than other countries do for comparable services.

That's rough. I get my anti seizure meds for less than $20 a month. It'd be $70 if I used my insurance. But that Good RX gets it for me significantly cheaper.

I'm sure many people know this but the price increase was a direct result of the drug manufactures increasing the price. The actual Pharmacies make big money on the extremely cheap drugs that they sell "cheap" like the famous $4 list from Walmart. They make like 500% profit when those are sold and they are usually fast movers.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

The problem is that conservatives here want to privatize healthcare so they keep making cuts and staff gets over worked and under paid. Then because the cuts keep making things worse they keep trying to push privatization to relieve the burden. Creating a stupid fucking cycle. Then you have all the chuds who vote for them just believing that the American system is better for reasons.

Yeah the pharmacy wasn't sure, they just said that's what insurance billed. It was enough of an increase to be worth calling BCBS. Spoke to a very nice lady who did confirm it was a drug manufacturer increase.

So fucking insane. In August, it costs $19. In September, it costs $53. Literally nothing changing about the medication itself or the supply chain involved. It's insane.
