Ring collecting missions suck outside of hedgehog stages, and weird physics can fuck you over in space levels (fuck you Crazy Gadget hard mode), but if you're just trying to finish everything with any rank, it's an A rank game. I do think the stories are comparable between SA1 and SA2, but I prefer SA2 because Shadow's backstory is pretty fucking cool. SA1 had a much better method of telling the story, though. I liked the open world, and the way the story was shown from multiple perspectives by the different playable characters in SA1.
