Every instance I can think of love potions being used, the moral of the story ends up being that using love potions is wrong. >____>

Like Harry Potter treats them as just another quirk fact of magic life (two supporting characters sell them at a shop), but that's mostly because JK Rowling's idea of world-building is "throw literally every magic-related trope into a blender fuck what makes sense". Whenever they're actually used, bad things happen.

I guess what I'm looking for is, stories where a "good" character is shown using a love potion and there are zero negative repercussions.

Edit: Oh, guess I should mention that I actually do think love potions are horrible, lol. Just saw a reddit thread with people talking about them and I was trying to think of the last time I'd seen them used in anyway other than as a cautionary tale.

Theres a story where they used a love potion and the twist was they were already in love with them and were just confident to talk to them after using it.

Meaning they used a love potion on someone thinking it made them love them but they already did. So now that they thought they made them love them they talked to them with confidence but again, they were already in love with them.

Closest thing I can find, game-wise.

Anime-wise, I can only think of Familiar of Zero, where it still wasn't treated as a good thing, but its intended purpose was to stop a guy from hitting on other girls besides his established girlfriend, so it sorta qualifies for this topic.

The main heroine drinks it by accident, which makes her honest about her feelings towards the main lead and making her less of a tsun and more of a dere, but they still spend the rest of the episode getting the antidote. She remembers all the embarrassing things she did while under its influence, so things quickly go back to the status quo, but it was one of her cutest moments.

In the movie, Love potion #9 is somewhat reasonable by modern sensibilities. You give it to someone and if they actually love you they will admit it but if they don't they will hate you for the rest of your life.

Love potion #8 however is straight rape juice

If i had to guess it's more that the idea of being able to easily get love is so compelling to people the story idea gets used a lot, not that the stories don't admit it's a really bad idea all the time.

I can see maybe it being good if to people use it the day they get married to solidify their love

I'm damn sure there must be a 50 shade of Gray-ish novel where the male interest used a love potion on the main character.
