The sound effects they used on some of their albums, etc

So ahead of their time, and for all John's vitriol, and all the shallow thought that goes with being a Ringo detractor, and George's angst, and Paul's neckties.... They really never wanted to hurt a fly, as far as I can tell. They didn't want to talk about hurting flies either. But they never denied that they hurt their fair share of flies before and maybe again, and "would you like to know where I'm at with that today?" sort of stuff. They were heroes and they wore it.

Being the voice of a generation is a hell of a thing, and I think they crossed the line at times but this is mostly after the band broke up and the 4 more or less started going separate directions, which they definitely did, but this just isn't music about hurting people, at all, nor is it music about being action star, or breaking up, or hooking up, even getting drunk, or being hopeless. Or whether there is a god, or any of that edge. The world could use more like The Beatles. Just music about normalcy and talking about people who live good lives, and making the world a better place, and being smart. The psychedelia could be a negative, but nowadays we have the internet and smart phones and I'd argue that you can remove the Beatles from that element more than ever. This is, of course, if you have a problem with their brand of psychedelia, which I find actual psychedelic people aren't all that interested in The Beatles, tbqh. What is real? Etc Probably not the Ed Sullivan show! That's for sure. Lol

Huge Lindsey Stirling fan here. Mostly there for the instrumentals but I support the larger picture to a degree for much of the same reasons. Really there's only a handful of tracks that are really worth it, but listening to the albums and getting into the meta of it is a brilliant experience of ideas that do carry the spirit of the real hits, and i think it is reflective on that, and how many songs from 1 artist belong in the top ten anyway? You know? Even The Beatles, I bet only 3 or 4 really touch your soul. Music, even hard music, should not be violent and overly sexualized by nature. It should touch your soul and open all doors. Good and bad. You don't have to make fun of the fans to their face without them realizing it at all. You don't have to steal and cheat everything. You don't have to hate your own stuff. Even with the way radio songs tend to work, and all that, which I just kinda covered

There is an artform to entertaining the 6 o'clock news crowd along with the underground rebellious for the sake of being rebellious and "who knows maybe I'll go live in the woods even though we both know that wouldn't last" crowd together for a family dinner, and a discussion about what matters, and all music is the same anyway so, and overproduced

You might as well find something that's different and along the lines of what you want and aggitates your detractors, and pushes you to the limit, and evokes powerful thoughts and feelings and crosses a certain line and even asks you to dumb down your own analytical thinking for the sake of reciprocating as a fan(like I'm doing right now)

Yes, they are. Their music is boring.

Also they are definitely not exceptions to the rule of "the worst part of anything is the fanbase."

The fact that they are still talked about to this degree kinda proves they were the exceptions to pretty much everything. They are the only band to pull so many sounds that you can definitely find something you like and if you cant find anything its a clear sign youre biased in some way

thats how much theyve influenced the span of music lol

Daft Punk tho

At the height of their popularity, they resigned. A mysterious decision or turn of events which would stoke the minds and imaginations of your average listener all over, and more over, nobody even up top seemed to know why. Had Daft Punk decided to cut the cord, and was there something deeper, or darker at play? It seems their anonymity had served them well in the end, and as the men behind the masks faded into obscurity, the legend before the music rose into eternity.

God this is such a dumb take that is constantly stated. They're influential, but people act like music didn't exist before them.

Plenty of modern - popular even - music has nothing to do with their legacy. Anything with its roots in electronic music has nothing to do with them. Bob Dylan is far more important to the existence of country and anything folk oriented.

Why would you not like someone for this? Musical evolution is a good thing.

I mean, I get people not liking some of those genres. I hardly ever hear people talk about Rockabilly or Skiffle. Most people seem to write off early Beatles as "corny" or something like that. I also don't often hear people talk about Blues, Blues artists and I basically never hear people talk about the old Delta Blues stuff.

When's the last time you heard anyone talk about Charley Patton, Muddy Waters or Howlin' Wolf?

Producing such a vast array of song styles that any random person will inevitably like *one* of your songs, but that's about it, is not that impressive. That's a jack of all trades, master of none philosophy.

The true mark of a great musical act is to know yourself and perfect it, and get people to love it. Elvis Presley is stylistically narrower than the Beatles, yet Elvis had arguably just as many fans, just as many fervent fans, than the Beatles. And he was just one man.

I'm not even a huge Elvis fan but I'll always respect him and hold him to a higher regard than the Fab Four who experimented ad nauseam and everyone ate it up because they were high as a kite or caught up in Beatlemania.

I don't know if I'd call them overrated, they have their place in history, but that said, I feel that bands like Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden, and Journey influenced my love for music moreso than the Beetles did.

It's the same with Prince. Sure he has his place in history, but I grew up listening to Elvis and Michael Jackson. Yeah, he's a popular singer, but I wouldn't know a single song of his outside the name.

They made some great songs, but most of the time if there was a cover for that song, in the right hands it was almost always better. While my Guitar Gently Weeps may have been written by George Harrison, but it was far better sung by Jeff Healey.

(I keep coming back to that album over and over again, year after year, month after month, memory after memory, like nothing else. I tend to break the album in half. Half one day, and then start in the middle next time I listen. But the whole thing is amazing, I mean. It's fine. That's the future, to me. That, stuff like DWTD, fingerstyle guitar artists, etc. Indie music being popular again, etc)

Still subtle but like, it's interesting. I think albeit unintentionally. I think they carried their image well, and this was meant to look like city nouveau stuff with stereophonic imagery , and arguably more ghostly than psychedelic but it does seem oddly prophetic

That's not even it. But they did reprise that cover later in the carrier.

No, It is in the fact that it is labeled with, "Please Please, Me, with Love Me Do, and 12 other tracks."
People really weren't putting out LP's at the time. So it was marketed as a single with other tracks.
Within years they would be putting out LP's twice a year.
