If so, what year would you travel to? Why? How old would you be in said year?

Personally, I feel the need to be rolled back to about the age of a fetus and try again. This particular run isn't going well.

100% yes

i'd beat the shit out of the bully i had in like grade 5 (who eventually became a heroin addict in his 20s), i'd actually make a move on girls i liked, and I wouldn't drop out of uni at age 19.

I'd start at like age two or three. I'm a toe walker and it's really fucked up my muscles. Also had awful dental hygiene as a kid and wouldn't hurt to fix that too.

You would end up with the same family. Its just you returning to your same younger self.

I mean for me this would be awesome because I would know exactly what decisions to make and which things to avoid

Probably 18, just after high school. I had just received a pretty hefty legal settlement so I could afford to change things. Things were bad at home, but I thought I could change things with money. Just ended up being used up.

With a do over I'd use the violence as an excuse to leave.

I don't know, honestly. I've done so many things wrong in my life and I know what a lot of them are, but at the same time, there are a lot of things I wouldn't want to live through again. They would be worth it if I had the absolute confidence that I could manage to do things correctly the second time around, but truly? I don't know for sure that I can; i'm still the same broken person as I was back then, but the only difference this time would be that I have knowledge/wisdom that I didn't have before. Would I have the courage to seize missed opportunities that could have been turning points?

Something else that puts a wrinkle in the whole thing is that if I did go back, I would lose my transition, and that would be hard to cope with in its way. My transition is one of the sole things in my life that HAS gone right, and while I could go in with the confidence that I would more than easily "pass" when I got to it again, would it be earlier by a few years or (if things turned out worse) actually later than when I did manage to start?

That's the largest wildcard of it all, and it's because of my parents; while they eventually did end up supporting me and I began transitioning at age 18, a somewhat large part of me wonders if it's only because of the guilt they felt that they supported it at all. The circumstances came to a perfect culmination in the final part of 2013, and part of it happening the way it did was because of how obviously (severely) depressed I was for several of the years leading up to that... Considering how strongly anti-LGBT my father was up until then (to the point of threatening to disown me or worse if I was even just gay), i'm not convinced that different scenarios could replicate the outcome.

My ability to transition was dependent solely upon my parent's approval... In other words, if I attempted to come out sooner, things could radically change. There's the smaller chance that I could transition sooner and they could start putting money away while we still had good income, but the larger/more likely thing would be me getting disowned and kicked out of the house, perhaps even being killed. Conversely, if I waited until around when I actually did come out (perhaps earlier that same year, because there was another perfect chance for it) and things had went well enough in fixing a lot of the failures i've made and I came out happier for it, would the outcome of them accepting me still happen?

I know this turned into a ramble (and that it's likely no one is reading all of it), but this is something i've thought a lot about and I just don't know what the right choice would be. The start of high school would probably be the best point to restart, but yet... there's just so much to consider. Things could either go so much better or (at the other end of the spectrum) they could result in a premature end.

I dunno. A lot of changes I'd make would probably mean I didn't meet my wife.

But I kind of regret going to college, but maybe I would have studied nursing or something. I just don't like having the debt hanging over my head and feel like I don't have anything to show for it.

I'd also like to go back and have been looking at houses a few years ago. They're so expensive now they feel out of reach. I could afford a mortgage payment back in 2018 if I'd known how cheap it was.

Yeah. When I first got to 7th grade/middle school in 1996 one of the classes I picked was this graphics calculator class. My dad bought me the TI-83 (still have it too, lol), and I really aced that class over every other one I had. Learning how to make basic stuff like drawing mario's head and making this super basic snake game on the calculator was mad fun.

For whatever reason though I never could get another one of those programming kind of classes. (They were usually full when I tried in 8th grade and in highschool). I had basic stuff like a typing class and general computer class in 10th grade if I remember right (this one was mainly just teaching you how to operate windows, switch PC parts and whatnot). I wonder what would happen if I really stuck to that kind of thing, and eventually learn how to code on the PC since I liked messing around on that calculator so much. I could have been one of those dudes making a indie game in my spare time today or something.
