Japan's Ninja Warrior show was more fun to watch because it was just a bunch of people dicking around. And then of course Americans had to turn it into a competitive show where everyone is literally sweaty.

The latest American ninja warrior courses are tougher than the ones on Sasuke (Japanese ninja warrior) and the American gladiator

Yeah it was over the top, and you're right Hogan was the host.

The show just tried too hard. They added fire and pyro. There were water hazards. The new gladiators hammed it up. It was too dark with flashy colored lights. The referee was literally the guy who played the ref in Dodgeball. and the Eliminator was far too long and difficult. They even integrated the Pyramid into it. The show had no heart, and lacked everything the original had which made it special.

To top it off it was one of Gina Carano's breakout shows as she was the gladiator Crush.

Things about NBC's 2008 American Gladiators that were awful (just off the top of my head):

• Hulk Hogan and Laila Ali's awful hosting/commentary
• Having specialized gladiators for each event, rather than having all-around strong athletes that are capable of performing in any event
• The giant fucking swimming pool
• The eliminator course being way too fucking long and there being no "you can bypass the treadmill after so many attempts" rule leading to several episodes either having a contender come from a mile behind because the leader can't make it up, or both contenders getting stuck there and having to edit out like 5-10 minutes of them resting and making failed attempts until one of them finally does it
• The tournament format being screwy to fit a specific number of episodes, so even if you won, if you didn't have one of the top eliminator times you still didn't move on
• Hellga
• NBC's stupid shit where they cut to commercial in the middle of the action instead of between events
• The episode where they had a guy with a prosthetic leg on even though there was no chance in hell of him winning because he'd never make it up the Eliminator treadmill (and after his opponent finishes they literally turn the treadmill off so he can actually finish and make it out like it's an inspiring thing)

I'm sure there's probably more that I'm forgetting... anyway I'd be fine and even happy to see AG come back if it were done right but like the tweets I posted said I don't think there's anyone who would even get it close to right.

American Ninja Warrior also had Drew Dreschel, who was one of the best... but then... did bad things and is rightfully no longer spoken of.

Prob the optimal body type for ninja warrior courses. Prob favors rock climber type body which is pretty skinny

Wipeout as a more lighthearted take. It's really funny because alot of the contestants on there are barely in shape to run a hundred yard dash, let alone an obstacle course.

Didn't someone die on a Wipeout course though?
