Im turning 29 soon and would also like to know

Then again people that post on gamefaqs in their 30s might not be the best sample size

I feel like your 30s depend on your 20s. If you made good choices, got an education and work experience and saved money I feel like your 30s should be pretty cool. Im 28 and own a condo and have a masters degree and am moving up in my job so I feel like my 30s should be pretty chill. Bonuses points Im not planning on having kids either lol

That depends entirely on how you spent your 20s.

While this is true, I think that it's also helpful to have spent your 20s making some mistakes to learn from and getting some bad habits "out of the system" so to speak. It's definitely helpful to have built a solid foundation in your 20s like you're speaking of, though. I noticed that it's much easier to find work in my 30s than it was in my 20s, basically hiring managers view the age as more reliable than their younger counterparts, for better or worse.

Age has nothing to do with internal happiness.

Misery doesnt discriminate.

Find out what you love to do and do it as much as possible.

Shed anyone in your life who brings you down. Family included.

0-25 - great life
25-30 - horrible
30-35- fantasic
35-42- absolute struggle
42-48 - great

25-30 was the only time i struggled internally with my happiness. All other time I was good with who I was and it helped me through any struggles.

I honestly like life more at 30 than in my 20s. The only things I miss is having more energy and being surrounded by hot as fuck 20yos and doing goofy immature shit with friends. I like having money and wisdom from being in my 30s >_>

I've been enjoying my 30s. My life is pretty much stress free and I've got an ok job.

I partied a lot in my 20s and life was more fun but chaotic at times. Things have calmed down in my 30s but it's nice. As I get older I tend to appreciate stability and a routine day to day life more.

Yeah kinda this. Like my early 20s and even late teens were a lot of fun in the sense that I partied a lot and it was east to meet girls. You know what I dont miss though? Being broke. Living either on campus or in crappy apartments sometimes with roommates. Having to do home work and working shitty retail and fast food jobs. I am a lot more financially secure and own a condo in a well off area with really low crime. I am looking forward to my 30s

They're actually correct: https://hbr.org/2016/03/why-your-late-twenties-is-the-worst-time-of-your-life

"Looking first at self-reports of ongoing stress, we found that people experience a sharp increase in stress levels in their late twenties and early thirties. Stress levels increase more moderately during the thirties and forties, remain steady for about 20 years, and then drop sharply as retirement comes around."

About to be 36 and yeah, Ive slowed down a bit but the party demon does want to come out every so often. At least nowadays I have more control of it.

Day to day is definitely more chill too. Hang out at home more and the like.

How does "stress levels continue to increase through your 30s and 40s" support the idea that all the pressure is gone at 30 and life gets easier?

"Yet even though the intake of stress continues to rise into the thirties and forties, the persons emotional response to it declines. Most people start to experience an increase in positive emotions as early as their late thirties, and a few years later also experience a significant improvement in overall satisfaction with life."

aka, the stress is mostly all based around children, and is them growing up. The sharp incline that occurs in the 20s is so sudden and expedited that it can break some.

30s imo you really can have your bearings on your existence, and what you're really after, and the things you want no part of. You're more attractive if you have this down, but you also turn down a lot more people.

Of course this depends on also being smart about your 20s. If you were dumb about being generally proactive then your 30s is garbage.

"the pressure is gone" is just ME personally. it's self-explanatory. but 20-somethings being depressed is a very real phenomenon. society definitely pushes the idea that your 20s are the best decade of your life and everyone's having a great time but that's just not accurate.

I'd say yes. As I get older the less of a damn I give, and it is great. The only real downside of getting older the inevitability of getting physically older. Father Time has a 100% win record.

I went back to school recently and I'm honestly doing way better now than when I was in my early 20s. Probably because I'm more mature and know how to study better >_> Plus the professors usually treat you with more respect too. I'm really enjoying it.

Being surrounded by hot as fuck college chicks is also a plus >___>

It does. Or at least it should.

I had a coworker in his early 20s ask me if turning 30 automatically makes him wiser.. I'm like, "Yes, but that's from having more life experience and learning from your mistakes. lol"

It should get better financially, but this is assuming you are putting in the work and moving yourself up career wise.

Ideally you should know what you want career wise in your late 20s if you haven't already, but shit happens for many. Its never too late to go back to school (if needed) and change careers to something that gets your more money, better job security, has a better work life balance, etc. and You also have to think about settling down and if you want to get married and have kids--if you believe in it. Start investing if you haven't yet either..
