They have gotten increasingly worse year over year and I don't know why I keep shopping with them.

Their neutered rewards program already killed any incentive to spend there over anywhere else so at this point I'm just doing it for looks...

They are pretty relaxed when it comes to returns. I feel comfortable buying expensive toys there because I know if I change my mind they will just take it back with little hassle

I recently purchased a Sony PS-LX310BT Belt Drive Turntable from Amazon and it was damaged during transit/warehousing. Fortunately Best Buy had it in stock and I was able to return the damaged product to Amazon and pick it up there after my refund was issued. I didn't have much of an issue with the purchase as I ordered online for in-store pickup. They had it ready for me in under an hour, which beats other local stores. Amazon started using Amazon Flex drivers in my area and I'm convinced they could care less about handling their goods with care. They basically hire any Joe Blow from the street with a car that runs to send out packages for them, as a 1099. Which I guess is good for most products, but I am not putting in an order for anything delicate again through Amazon.

Unlike Amazon, Best Buy gets my pre-orders to me on launch day.

I just buy all my shit at amazon

They've been getting (deserved) hatred for probably over a decade now. I don't see why people even go to them anymore. They feel like they should have died out when some of the other big chains were going out.

Must be nice to have a decent best buy. My digital preorder didn't arrive after +12hrs of the game release... I had to change it to physical and store pick up to actually get my game. First and probably last time I preorder from them.

If you were getting a digital copy why didn't you just directly preorder it from the console's storefront rather than use a middleman like Best Buy in the first place

I'm STILL waiting, 24 hours+. They keep blaming "the vendor".

I shop at Amazon and or digitally now, but I still sometimes feel need for a brick and mortar store because I worry about electronics getting damaged during shipping and overheating in hot climates.

Why the hell are you pre-ordering a digital game to begin with, let alone from anywhere other than the digital storefront you're downloading it from?

Got suckered into getting the preorder bonus item because I thought at worst they would send the me code in the morning and I was hoping they at best gave me the code at midnight like any other preorder place.

Best Buy won't let you use reward certificates to buy digital currency so if you want a digital game and want to use your certs you need to buy the game outright instead.

I'm barely saving any money at this point, certainly more grief than the $5 I saved.

Lucky. Best Buy ships my pre-orders out the night before launch and it takes two days to get here. Doesn't help that Nintendo releases everything on a Friday meaning I won't get my pre-order until Monday.

It's not often that I go to best buy anymore. But I do miss the best buy of years ago.

Just going over to Best Buy and buying the download voucher from the store saved me all the headache.

That's my concern about brick and mortar stores struggling. If I need a new TV I want to go in and see what it looks like and what the picture looks like before I buy it. I also want to be able to pick it up and go home and have an option for a quick return if need be.

Anybody else grow up in the 90s with a Media Play in their area, and remember how awesome it was before Best Buy bought and destroyed it?

Might depend on the location. I bought a new TV from there about a year ago, and when I took it home, it had this bad strobing effect after about ten seconds of being on. Obviously any reputable store would accept a return, but they also credited $100 back to my card for the hassle.

They're good in my book.

I don't know how to break this to you, but distribution trucks for big boxes are not climate controlled so your electronics are still potentially experiencing severe heat/cold during shipping.

It's my favorite place to get new TVs. Not sure who else would carry high end TVs like they do.

Is it just a case of best buy shipping the game out a few days ahead of time so you get it on launch day? And amazon doesnt ship until launch day so you get it 3 days late?

Amazon, especially recently, has a bad habit of saying "release day shipping" and then on release day giving you an update saying "actually it will be there in two days"

Why do you want to see that crash and burn

They're a convenient place to recycle old electronics.

They've gotten increasingly less and less consumer-friendly over the years and their service is also slipping. I think Circuit City checking out of the US market gave them free reign to be craptastic.
