How would you feel if there was a new religion taking rapid root in the world, that believed that Lucifer is the actual real God? In this religion's backstory, Lucifer created the universe and then Jehova rebelled against him and won the war. Jehova overthrew Lucifer and banished him

This religion believes that Lucifer is benevolent and that Jehova is evil and a usurper, masquerading as a benevolent deity. But that Jehova actually is quite malevolent in secret and that a prophecy states one day Jehova will be slain by a chosen one who will put Luficer back on the throne.

The believers go around doing charity work and helping people and doing kind acts, while always searching for the Chosen One

Can't be any worse than actual Christianity. Probably a tad more believable, too, considering some of Jehovah's actions in the old testament, and for that matter it'd answer "why doesn't God prevent tragedies?" far better than Christianity has ever managed to.

I would find it interesting from a sociological perspective but not really care aside from that.

Jehova is another name for Yaweh, which might have been the king of the gods in very ancient Hebrew culture. There is archeological evidence that like 5 thousand years ago, the people who eventually founded Judaism, used to basically be pagans. The Hebrews had a pantheon of gods and goddesses. But for some unknown cultural reason, eventually they ditched all but 1. Yaweh might have been their main god. Like their version of Zeus or Odin. Something made them shift from multiple deities to just 1
