Can you do these? I think it easy but I do it for work. Do y'all out of school for awhile remember this shit?

Its about the mind set. Students might not use this exact thing in the future but when they pass the exam it shows they have the mindset for things like engineering etc.

We supposed to teach like that. What you do to one side you do to the other. Me personally, I never learned it that way but I teach this way cause reasons.

I've hated math since the 3rd grade. I cannot do those equations, no.

That's pretty standard algebra, I learned it without the lines but the method is still the same. They'll definitely use this

Honestly the only time Ive actually used this for real was when I needed to work out the equation for converting Celsius to Fahrenheit using only pen and paper.

But yeah those look easy.

The lines just look like they're there to keep things organized. This really isn't any different to how it's always been taught

Imagine if they had to use PEMDAS to solve for x.

I still remember that. I think trig and synthetic division are the most I could do without needing to look it up.

Dunno. I work in engineering and use that stuff all the time. Never seen anybody use lines like that though.

The thing with math is that it's the kind of stuff they people will never learn by themselves outside school. Like they can google their way out of a lot of stuff but math you just need to be forced into it.

Yeah I dont necessarily do this exact type of problem but I do solve similar math problems to this on a fairly regular basis as a software dev

I semi-regularly solve for x, whenever I have to convert COGS, profit, and margin.

This is useful when doing more complex problem solving in college

especially physics
