there IS a gospel of Mary, though it isn't recognized by the church as real. And its not Virgin Mary, but that other Mary who was a prostitute.

But what if they found a Gospel claiming to be written by the mother of Jesus, and in it, she says that she wasn't a virgin. That Joseph was Jesus's blood father and that Christians are wrong

Lets assume they do tests and can prove it dates back to the time of Jesus

Very few people care whether Jesus's mother was a virgin. That doesn't change the message of Christianity

Assuming the book existed and was true, the ironic part would be that it would probably get appropriated by some weird quasi-Christian cult and used as justification for why their leader is literally Jesus or whatever. >_>

It'd be just another forgery. Faith literature is rife with it. And this isn't a value judgment, it's a simple statement of fact. Ancient writers forged practically everything about their gods. It was completely normal for them.

I mean there are a bunch of gospels and books that didnt make the cut for the Bible. Mostly due to what other posters said in that when it was put together there was some considerable time gaps.

Not to mention there are canon Gospels and Non-canon ones. Like the Gospel of Judas (which to be fair isnt meant to be literal words of Judas himself). Who decided which would be canon and which wouldnt be?

All the books in the Bible were picked by mortals in a biased choice. They held a council and came up with what was "real". And that became the Bible. It's all bullshit though. Anything that is in the Bible is only cause the leaders of the council favored those parts. For all we know, stuff they discounted is actually the real truth.
