yeah, nintendo really phones it in with their preorder shit. for SwSh and Arceus you at least got unique clothing

The pokeball set in PLA wasn't even that impressive, like 60 of the tier 1 balls. But at least it meant we could go around catching a ton of things the first chance we got. This isn't even saving us enough money to buy an outfit in the first town that offers clothes.

No, that still goes to the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided "Augment your pre order" shit. Or the Fallout 76 debacle where they lied about what you would get.

But this is a damn good attempt.

Edit: now that I think about it, it's nowhere near the worst. Ubisoft still regularly spreads different, not-overlapping content across 3 different versions and 5 different retailers, making you need to use a spreadsheet and order multiple copies in order to get everything.

This is worthless, but relatively benign.

Sums up Modern Gamefreak, least amount of effort possible.

Is catching pokemon so difficult that a masterball is going to be the difference between winning and losing? In that case, how are 10 potions not P2W?
Actual event pokemon are a larger issue than any amount of ingame items. Nintendo could announce a $100k "Immortal Bundle" that came with every TM, 100 masterballs, and a Pikachu hat - it still wouldn't come close older gen Wish/Seismic Toss Chansey.

You could argue that that many masterballs would completely trivialize roaming legendaries.

In every Pokemon game to date (I haven't played SwSh, but I just checked) there's some way to farm master balls. They're also tradable items, so if you wanted, you could open a sweat shop and pay to have people play through the game and trade you their master balls.

But it still wouldn't matter because in-game is largely:
1) trivial
2) a personal experience

It's like complaining about using Game Genie to beat SMB3, who cares?
For example, why would you not mind trivializing roaming legendaries? Because it's mostly just a chore without any real difficulty and ultimately isn't something that effects PvP or other more difficult game modes.

They do this with every game. Pretty sure the last remake came with like 20 pokeballs. Its better than giving a limited time Pokmon imo, they already do enough of that shit with their mystery gift bs.

Should have given us a neat Pokemon instead. Like maybe the first stage of that gen's pseudo-legendary Pokemon

the noon rockruff or whatever that you could get via mystery gift was a great way of doing early purchase rewards. it was unique, but not an OP legendary or anything. i'd much rather get something like that again than a dumb ol' flying pikachu; however, it is cool to see pikachu with a stab flying special attack. that's pretty unique in its own right

Pokmon always gives the lamest pre-order rewards as in game items. I miss when you actually got like a little Lugia figure or something.

That's pretty bad... I was hoping they'd do something like SwSh where you got specific Wishing Pieces to summon a Larvitar or Jangmo-o Raid early depending on your version... Would've been nice since Raids are back...

Even just a single master ball alone would have been a appropriate bonus.

I think a better gift would have been a Apricorn ball set.

5x each of Lure, Love, Heavy, Friend, Moon, Fast and Level Balls.

Still not as bad as locking apriballs behind a preorder
