The Fortnite style of unlocking cosmetics. I much rather the Overwatch method. You play the game, you unlock 5 random in-game cosmetics, any cosmetics you already own, you get gold for.

Fortnite means your paying for literally everything. The free to play cosmetics are all crap.

The gambling needs to go.
I'm including all the manipulative methods they use to nudge you toward it as part of this option and also P2W since that's easy to couple with it. If something in the box is limited time then that goes right in too.
Efforts to cultivate an audience of gambler from casuals, gacha addicted drones and other lowest common denominator representatives is the root of a lot of what's wrong lately. The games coming out aren't even good at this point, they're just paid spin-the-wheel simulators for the dumbest of the dumb.

Some people put a lot of money into these shit pile games for some pitiful reasons.
Guess you could cheat and say investors are the root issue since they like to push games into being like this.

It's all pretty bad, but DLC being part of almost every game now puts it ahead.

Why bother paying $60 for a game when it launches, when I can wait a few months for it to be discounted and pay the same amount for the game + all of its DLC?

I'd rather pay $10 and know exactly what I'm getting than never get what I want at all unless I get blessed by the RNG or spend hundreds of dollars on loot boxes.

The loot box gambling doesn't bother me because I've been simply avoiding any games that have it. But DLC is almost entirely unavoidable. When I'm searching for a game to buy, I'll see that it has five hundred DLC packs and it makes me wonder if the core game is even worth getting. What is that going to get me, the title screen and opening level? It just discourages me from even giving the game a chance. DLC is fine if it's done like an expansion pack, where you're getting a huge bundle of content, new campaign, etc. But I hate the trickling of content like weapons, costumes, and other gimmicky things that can add up to many times the cost of the core game if you were to collect it all.

The other thing I hate about DLC is that you can one day get screwed out of all the extra content if the online service goes down. In such a case, you'll only have what was on the original disk. Although that's my gripe with all online content in general.

Releasing unfinished games and hoping to patch later if need be.

I can't choose, they are all definite issues.

I would add:
-non-skippable 2 hour tutorials
-non-skippable splash screens that makes it take 5 minutes before you can play the game
-unfinished, unpolished games that don't work without internet access & patches
-Needing a multi-gigabyte update before you can play a new game you bought at the store

Lack of preservation for the future is my biggest concern, so games being only online is pretty damning when eventually their servers shutting down.

I would say forced co-op but luckily that trend seems to have died

Everyone thinking their games have to follow the GaaS model.
Are you really expecting to capture people's attention for hundreds of hours with gameplay that can't really support it?

and I get that, but I'd rather earn my shit. I have nearly all the Overwatch skins via earning them, not paying for them. Because at the end of the day I'm a collector and I like switching between skins from match to match. And when your paying 10 dollars a skin, that adds up.

That definitely would have been my vote if I saw it. I went for Day One DLC.

I voted always online, but every single one of those is bad. Always Online git my vote only because it can completely prevent someone from playing their game. The rest can be worked around.

For competitive games, DLC is the worst because they nickel and dime players to extreme amounts.

Overall though, the worst offender is the always online / games as a service trend. So many promising games were ruined by that format.
