My wife's family is kinda toxic as fuck. Dad sexually assaulted my wife when she was a child... nothing ever came of it because nobody would believe her. So she ran away at like 13 years old. Her mom eventually left too and divorced him, but has since kinda become almost bipolar? She would go from offering us like a grand to buy a new couch to two weeks later claiming all we do is use her for money and bleed her dry (despite the fact she makes 6 figures and we never asked her for a cent). So eventually we just cut off communication with her too. She has a brother who is a decent person, but won't respect the fact that my wife won't engage with parents anymore. So he wants to chat and have some form of relationship together, but will then ambush her at a restaurant WITH dad or mom too. Doesn't believe that dad did anything at all to her and won't respect the fact she doesn't want to see him. Her brother popped by our old place of residence (my family owns a condo and we lived there for awhile before moving out on our own, now my nephew lives there) to see if we still lived there anymore. My nephew is a wonderful and smart boy so he just said they don't live her anymore and told us about him showing up. Thankfully nobody in her family knows where we live now. Her mom left me a message on my cell (I have her blocked) just saying she wanted to know if my wife was OK and wanted to chat. She then went as far as to contact MY FATHER trying to dig up information on us. My dad is also an incredibly smart person and just said he would pass on the information.
