Wait are the all the vehicles in that picture actually stopped on the road? What is going on there >_>

Looks like all the lanes are being funneled down to fewer lanes to cross a bridge creating a bottle neck at a stop where the merging is happening.

As for this plan by California, my biggest concern is the plans for building up your infrastructure to support this change. You have two things to deal wit here: 1) Providing EV charging stations to serve the public. 2) Reinforcing the energy grid to support the extra loads that will be generated from all the cars charging.

There's also an accident off to the right that's probably causing most of the traffic. It thins out farther ahead.

Like I'm all for increased public transportation and decreasing highway usage, I take BART to work. This was a dumb example for it though lol.

They're stopped because that's where the toll is scanned for the Bay Bridge and there's signal lights all along that white strip.

To be honest, as long as technology allows electric cars to be affordable, charge quickly, and get more than a few hundred miles per charge I have no issue with it.

I'll be buying an electric car or truck as soon as those qualifications are met.
Level 4 chargers go from 0 to 100% in 90 minutes. It's not as fast as refueling but it's pretty good regardless. Just pass a law saying all gas stations must have at least one level 4 charger on site and the problem will take care of itself in a few years.

The hell are you supposed to do at a gas station for an hour and a half?

You dont need to charge from 0-100 all in one go. Plan your trip and if you need to you might charge from like 20-60 which is significantly less time. When you get to your destination then charge it to 100

This may be how malls make a comeback.
Park at the charger, fuck around in the mall for a couple hours, and there you go.

It only takes 15 minutes to charge 200+ miles at the Tesla chargers. I barely have time to fiddle with the screen. You can place chargers anywhere too.

Will the power grid be able to handle all these cars charging at once?

So, we don't have enough of all these elements and resources in the US to cover all of these electric cars. It seems all of our money is going to go to China.

There is polluting and there is (significantly) less polluting. In the end it comes down to how the energy and materials involved are generated.

Car prices have been pretty stagnant for a while now honestly. And Manufacturers are always adding new toys and gimmicks into vehicles to justify maintaining the prices still. And I doubt this will change by then.

It's struggling to deal with the demands created by a heat wave. Continuing our use of fossil fuels will only make things worse.
