So glad I decided to give it a chance.

I'm only on chapter 5 but I'm about 22 hours in. I've been doing a lot of the part-time hero stuff.

Anyone who hasn't played this before and has PS+ should definitely get it before the month is over.

all the yakuza games ive played have been great

I love how Japanese those games are. Not like in a weaboo way, but they just do such a great job of making you feel like you're there and showing you a lot of the little nuances of the culture that most localization in games kinda glosses over

This is the first game I've played, but I'm definitely gonna check out more of the series once I'm done with this one.

I know gameplay will be different, but as long as the story and characters are similar, I'm sure I'll like it.

I haven't played LAD yet but dude...the rest of the series is imo the best game series to play while drunk. Beat 'em up gameplay that's easy to play while not getting old, fun substories to laugh at, serious main story to get emotionally invested over, and a little grinding. All things that are enhanced by alcohol.

Its so good. Cant wait for the next game. Need me some more Ichiban.

Kiryu is definitely a lot more grounded compared to Ichiban but his straight man style still leads to a lot of hilarious moments

Drinking is one of the reasons I love turn-based rpgs so much.

I can always take a drink in the middle of the action without fucking things up because I only have one hand on the controller.

I may be biased, but the Yakuza series on the whole is a gift.

I wish someone would make some good recap youtube videos for the series. I always forget the story after i take breaks in between the games, and every time i check there isnt any good recap videos

Like I said, I'm only on chapter 5. I tend to do all the side stuff I can before moving on with the story.

I dont mind them being thorough, as long as its well done. Last time I checked though i could only find like the entire game broken into a movie which is just too long.

Yeah business management is one of those things in the game that could have been explained a little more concisely. Especially the Shareholder Meetings.

It's definitely a good investment and pretty much sets you up for any money problems you might have in game. Also unlocks a pretty good party member

I've been wanting to buy, everytime it goes on sale I put it in the cart but never buy it, I always say I got other games, like I was playing Tales of Vesperia and P3 FES at the moment too.

I'm glad it was on PS++, I'm enjoying the hell out of it. Just got to chapter 12, 67hrs in. Sometimes I can't play in the big screen so I have to remote play but when I do that I try to do all the side quest and part time hero that I can, and grind a bit, the auto is godsend.

I just started understanding Business management a bit, but alot of it is just random clicking and hoping something works, especially the board meetings.

I just did my first board meeting earlier today and was not a fan of that at all. Or the whole business management part in general.

I'm not sure how much time I'm gonna spend trying to do it, even if I miss out on whatever rewards you can get from it.

I would heartily suggest getting to Rank 100 at the very least.

Also if any guide says "buy this specific building" ignore it because the buildings you get access to are randomly generated from a pool, and you will not have that guaranteed.

Just do it til you get to rank 100, you'll get something cool for that. Other than that, I've pretty much ignored it.

I got to a point where I'm making profit but it's just too much micromanaging for me.

Quick question.

I just switched jobs to Foreman for the first time and got the ability to demolish certain obstacles and clear new paths.

If I switch back to the Hero class will I still be able to do that? or does it only work when I'm in the Foreman job?

Yes. That's permanent and persists across all Jobs.

My first advice whenever anyone gets access to Jobs is always "switch Ichiban to Foreman if only for a second".

I beat Tales of Berseria a few months back. It was pretty good. I liked it more than Arise.

I've played GoW too. I actually might replay it soon before Ragnarok comes out.

Like Cyric said get to the max rank in the business game. Once you do you'll have easy access to millions of dollars and another fun surprise. I don't even manage it anymore I just zip through it and get a cool 4 million bucks whenever I need it

The only issue I really had with it was near the end game I was just spamming the same attacks and it got kind of boring

Is there some reason why my bond with Nanba is still locked at level 2?

I'm on chapter 7 and my bonds with Adachi and Saeko are both at level 5.

In short, yes. Advance the story.

The extra 50 million Yen in management funds I got was a nice bonus too.

only minor thing i don't like is how overwhelming the series can be when it comes to side activities

I tend to skip alot of gambling mini games lol I don't have the patience for them

Speaking of side activities I'm still seriously debating with myself whether I want to finish up the hostess substories in Yakuza 3 so I can try fighting Jo Amon on hard mode before beating the game, and my indecisiveness is really killing me because I really want to start up Yakuza 4 because it's technically the first Yakuza game I ever tried. The hostess substories are always so boring and I rarely ever actually want to do them though!

Hostess stuff is an absolute slog in Y3 and Y4 and you have to do ALL of it if you want to fight Amon. It's the kind of stuff I will tell a person to just literally follow my guide to get through as quickly as possible.

I just left her with her starting job, and she can do lots of damage with it but near the endgame she kinda became ineffective for me

I'm currently at rank 12.

Yeah I liked the business management minigame. The one in Yakuza 0 isn't really doing much for me

I just got the trophy for getting 10 billion yen.

It took me all the goddamn day, but I got there.

I got a shitload of money now. I can probably fully ungrade the Romance Workshop now.
