The last time I played it was....2005 I believe. I remember really loving it back then. Ready to see how it stacks up to the later games and to see how well (or poorly) it has aged lol. Wanted to play the English translation of Animal Forest e+ but I couldn't find it anywhere and I'm not sure if it's completely translated or not.

Is it the actual town you played in 2005 and you're coming back to witness its weed-choked and forsaken hellscape?

Because that'd be a topic.

I still really like it. The animals have distinct personalities without necessarily devolving into caricatures like in the more recent games. It also just has a comfy vibe but that's probably nostalgia.

Nah lol my old disc doesn't work anymore, I'll be playing it via Dolphin. Though of course I'll be playing it as if I were playing it on real hardware. I'll take it a day at a time and won't be using cheats or time traveling. Anyway looks like I've got Goldie, Lulu, Louie, Tom, Prince, and Petunia as my starter animals. Hoping for Scoot and Lucky (can't remember if he's in the GameCube game) to eventually make their way into my town.

Yeah, they sanitized the villagers a bit too much in the newer games. Back then, you had some actual jerkasses.

That totally sounds like a Snooty villager lol. The Normal personality mouse in my town was a total sweetheart. And Peppy, Jock and Lazy villagers were like, your ultimate best buddies. Cranky villagers were my fave though just cause they'd outright call you a psycho for wandering around at night, love those grouchy jerks! <3

Wild World was the best AC.

Agreed, I was way too addicted to that game. I guess the newer ones might be objectively better but Wild World has a special nostalgic value.

Wasn't really a fan of Wild World or City Folk for one (albeit stupid) reason, they shared the same hourly music and honestly, they only barely managed to avoid being the weakest in the series in that regard, thanks to New Horizons. NH hourly music just does NOT fit the Animal Crossing aesthetic imo. Hour music aside, I can admit Wild World was great though. Honestly though I'd love a remake (using New Horizons graphics) of Population Growing, with all the QoL improvements from the later titles.

OG was best. Wild World sucked because you couldn't get all the stores without multi-player and I didn't like how the world rolled in Wild World and City Folk. I preferred the flat grid style screen change of the original ala The Legend of Zelda.
