Have ran 2 half marathons and a 25k within the past 365 days. My full marathon is in early January, with a half marathon coming up first on Halloween.

Pretty much gonna be following this Novice 1 guide from HalHigdon. They recommend a starting base of being able to run 60 minutes straight without stopping, which I can do just fine already.

I really just don't wanna poop my pants during the actual marathon. I've heard that's a common problem lmao

This is the training plan I'm going with I think:

Eat A LOT of carbs the night before so you have energy for it

Don't shit your pants like I've seen other runners do >_>

Probably get the best ergonomic shoes you can for the job. I have flat feet so running long distances can leave my feet sore for a while. And diets that help with recovery, avoid too much inflammation.

Food is something I need to figure out for sure. Ive been intermittent fasting one meal a day on and off the last year or so, but I just dont think thats gonna work for marathon training.

I hate running after I eat, but I like doing all my runs in the afternoon. I skip lunch and breakfast a lot, but I guess I wont be able to once Im doing these longer runs.

Good luck! I'm actually training for my first half right now. I know it's not quite the same (about half the work maybe lol) but I'm right here with ya!

Thanks! Do you have a game plan for your first half? Halloween 2021 was my first half, so I just went through that.

I've never taken on a training plan, I just run a lot. I'm the CEman who runs at least 10 miles a day 6x a week with one of those runs being at least 20 miles. Uh just things that I've seen better my running are a forefoot strike, weight lifting, very cushioned shoes, great posture and a good diet. Lots of vegetables and carbs.

My best time is 3:16:09 2018 Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

Damn! That's awesome. 10 a day is fantastic. I wonder if I'll ever get to that point. I'm at the point where I can do 4 mile runs every other day, so about 4x a week.

I'm just using a training plan on under armour's mapmyrun app and taking advice from my girlfriend since she was a cross country runner in college.

You can't burn calories that you haven't consumed. Don't neglect to get food to help keep your body filled with nutrition.
