my wife and i are thinking about getting the regular (9th gen) iPad. i used to have an ipad 2 lmao.

we have like 5 laptops in this house lol but a tablet might be nice.

any tips

Unless you have a specific need for one, I dont think theyre necessary at all. Theyre basically just bigger iPhones.

I have one of the latest ones, but I mainly used it for teaching and reading music. Its great for storing and using to read sheet music off of

i have the current gen cellular ipad pro 12.9 and ipad mini
i have had the 2020 ipad pro, the 6th and 7th gen regular ipads i believe, and the first gen ipad mini also with cellular.

I bought one and just find myself using my phones so much more. Buying a second phone was more beneficial.

i agree with the bigger iphone sentiment. Unless you're going to draw or will be on the go a lot you don't really need much out of an ipad. mines just kinda sit here and i take my mac around because mostly pound for pound they do the same thing and have the same screen (Promotion XDR) except its a lot easier to do more hardcore tasks on a computer than an iPad and without compromising.

if you just wanna lounge around the house and occasionally play games on a touch screen then sure, the base ipad is cheap enough that why not?

I'd like an ipad for reading books and maybe Civ VI once in a while, but idk how new it'd need to be (read: how old of one I can get) to run Civ well.

i have an ipad used for mario kart tour. it was bought from my grandfather who cant use newer tech as well as my other known relatives.

paid 200$ when i was offered it for that price.

I have a Huawei tablet, definitely more comfortable than a laptop for watching series and reading manga. Plus do some mobile gaming.

If you have the money go for it.

I use an iPad for internet access it is great having the larger screen to see things better, and the larger keypad for typing.

All iPad Air's are currently 200 bucks off. Puts them at 70 bucks more then the standard iPad for the same product with a better design, more screen space and better performance. They're trying to clear stock for the new line of M1 air iPads so this is the cheapest it's ever been I think. Plus you get Apple Pencil 2 support if that's your thing instead of the terribly awkward Pencil 1 which is apparently prone to exploding while charging?

just get the $300 ipad and it'll last you a while, no use trying to cheap out on it

I think mine is like 7th Gen and it already has lost app/update support for some things I wanted to use on it. I basically mostly use it for porn now.
