Fuck yes. My cousin tried to get me to play it when we were kids and I never did, but a few years back I decided to give a few of the classic PS1 RPGs a go and while I couldn't get into the others I tried, I immediately loved the shit out ouf Grandia. Played the entire series (well, the numbered games + Xtreme) and loved all of them, even Grandia 3 which is apparently not that popular.

If I could upvote this topic I would.

Ps1 jrpgs in particular are some of my all time favorite games. Grandia, Legend of Dragoon and FFIX are the kings of the bunch IMO

Hm, I haven't played Legend of Dragoon yet. I tried Chrono Cross and Xenogears. Couldn't get into either, they just didn't do it for me (even though, in the former's case, I absolutely loved Trigger).

I really liked all three PS1 FFs - FF7 being my first RPG, and FF8 being my favorite of the three.

I find myself liking 8 more the older I get. Never actually met anyone in person who didn't like it just people online. Don't won't to oversell Legend of Dragoon on you but it's really fun the story has some really interesting themes and the battle system is fairly unique

Also Legend of Dragoon is basically fantasy Power Rangers

My one complaint about 8 is that it was way too easy, but the Requiem mod fixed that, maybe too well.

Also Rinoa is ugly and Squall totally should've gotten with Selphie or Quistis instead.

I'm not really good at picking music out of an soundtrack but figured those two would be good.

Hm, that battle theme feels kinda generic. Feels like it'd fit a Mega Man level more than a JRPG battle. Still, I'm gonna care more about the gameplay (and to some extent the story); good music is just a bonus.

Yeah I was never big on them as a couple felt forced been a few years since I played but seemed like Squall is just like "fine I guess we're a couple" after the constant push from the group.

This is good. One battle theme tends to get repetitive in JRPGs. Even Grandia Xtreme, having two of them (even if they were similar) was nice. And then when you got to the bonus dungeon, it added G1 and G2's battle themes to the mix too.

Not very good at explaining the gameplay but basically you hit X at the correct time as a prompt on the screen as you level up you get more advanced moves
