Rather have a Xillia remaster collection

I'd like ports of the Xillia games since I never played them. Was Legendia any popular over in Japan? I liked it and it was my first Tales of but my god do I hear it getting shit on a lot.

Yeah, I had a fun time with the gameplay.

Did not enjoy anything else, though.

Combat was pretty meh with Arise honestly. It's dumbed down too much compared to Graces.

They should make Xillia 3. Use Arise art style but keep Xillia 2s combat and upgrade it.

Wtf? Thats one of the worst TO games. Great music though.

A next game with a few tweaks to TOA formula could be really great. A better story, better boss fights, less skits and a battle system not so reliant on those dual artes and we good to go. But the story and pacing of the end was what hurt it the most.

oh the ship we need to go back just happens to be right there where you left it hundred years ago, fully functional. Thats ok for a snes game, but doesnt really fly today

My issue with the game after beating it, was that to me there just weren't enough playable characters. What's worse is that they bundle characters close together. So naturally after I got the last 2, I figured there are 2 more slots available, so I'll get 1 from Pelegion and 1 from the area after that. Which didn't happen.

I thought the sub plot of The Renan Overlords being mind-controlled tools is well written.

This is factually incorrect considering Arise has aerial combat and aerial artes. The reason why Arise's combat is lackluster is because you can't hitstun and stunlock bosses for combos so you can't style on them like you can in most other Tales games and because of the unnecessary cure points system and the game being stingy with gels that recover cure points to try and get people to buy some of the overpriced DLC. I hope the next new Tales game is nothing like Arise.

Yeah six man casts are the bare minimum and they should always shoot for eight so the player has some good variety to experiment with.

Legendia is great. Maybe the best cast in the Tales series.

Subpar game. I wouldn't even call it bad. It's just disappointing and forgettable. Great graphics and solid voice acting, though. The battles against regular enemies are engaging enough but the devs dropped the ball with the boss battles and enemy variety.

Really? I mean I played through about 90% of the game on unknown. It's brutal playing it without ANY form of hitstun or stunlock. But at least in graces you can break through and get a breather with exploiting weaknesses. I also played Arise modded to do two player with my brother. That made the game actually tolerable for once. Otherwise it's a pretty boring game. I don't think I ever had my brother quit on me like he did one Arise close to the end and refusing to fight because it was just...so god damn boring. You either hit the enemy's SINGULAR weakness or you didn't. Oh and spam reigning slash and knock downs.

But your points still stand about the lack of stunning in the game. I don't get the point of the healing gel's no longer being percentages lol. I still enjoyed Grace's combat waaaaaaaaaay more. Regardless if it doesn't have aerial combat. Better than spamming instant spells with Rita constantly. Although Judith was pretty fun in Vesperia.

The big thing that killed Arise for me was no multiplayer. The framework exists, the mod doesn't seem to deviate too far, they COULD have done it easily in the game but...they didn't. I don't know exactly why.

When the game came out, the PS5 board was calling it a 10/10 game. Just a little weird now to see people actually criticizing the game, but I guess that's what happens when the game leaves its honey moon phase. I played the demo and I thought it was fun enough from a gameplay perspective, but I don't really know much about the story or the characters.

Tsunderes are annoying and she cranks that shit up to an obnoxious degree, but in fairness she is pretty much the only character who gets any actual development, if you can call it that.

Same. Well, I hate most of the "dere" archetypes because they're never done in an interesting way, they're always extremely predictable and boring. Which you could ignore if not for the fact that they're always the most important people in the room and whatever media they're in wont let you forget it lol

Personally I think it was several multitudes more disappointing than it was fun, but I won't say I had no fun with it. Especially in the first 2 chapters.

The story kills the game for me. I don't know why. I noticed that the skits weren't as funny as previous tales games. That's something I repeatedly said to my brother and he said to me.

We got pretty tired about Law missing his dad for the 50th time, the conversations lose their oomph when they repeat things over and over.

I guess skits in this game are just a way of summarizing what happened, but it didn't really feel like the characters had opinions on what was happening or happened. And if they did, well...you got tired of hearing it.

Arise really hit the ground running with the combat. I loved it to start and enjoyed it immensely up to about the third realm.

It did the same thing that Scarlet Nexus did where it pretty much gave you everything really early and so you got the feel of what you liked best rather quickly and didn't get to slowly add new components in over time. As such, you end up doing the same thing for a ton of time and find yourself too ingrained in your current setup to bother experimenting further.

But man the game fuckin DRAGGED too towards the end. I found myself skipping cutscenes because they wouldn't shut the fuck up. They were repeating the same lines and same objectives over and over and over and it was driving me nuts.

Facts on that last part. I usually can stand watching a lot of skits and cutscenes back to back in Tales of and other games, but the way that handled that linear segment after the volcano which was like mostly hours of cutscenes and skits back to back was a fucking travesty. Bandai Namco delay the game after a lengthy development cycle, still allow the devs to go forward with this, the game comes out nearly 5 years after Berseria and then when people give them bad feedback about this part they blame issues with the game on Covid19. Yeah, that's bullshit. Easily one of the many reasons why I considerably dislike Arise.

I stopped shortly after recruiting Dohalim and Kisara. There's plenty to like about it, but neither the story or characters grasped me. Shionne has shown potential, but she's taking way too long reveal anything at this point. She's just annoying now.

Yeah, the skits were pretty lame. Outside of not liking the departure from the anime style cutouts, the dialogue just wasn't interesting or entertaining. It was mainly the characters saying the same stuff about themselves over and over again.

I liked Arise's gameplay and Dohalim.

Everything else...yeesh. The writing is some of the worst I've ever seen in a game, and most of the cast is either boring or unlikable.

Rita Mordio is a likeable character because she takes action. It is more action than talk with Rita.
