If I enjoyed Super Hero shows like Invincible, The Boys, and Peacemaker? I'm thinking about going into this show completely blind, but I don't want to waste my time committing to it if it doesn't have the high quality like the three shows I listed.

Maybe? It's similar in some ways and different in others.

Quality wise, season 1 is up there though.

it's possible.

it's less about dark, demented superheroes, and more about a dysfunctional family who has super powers.

there are some events that affect the sake of the world, but the family drama stuff takes precedence.

there are a bunch of absurd things that happen, though, so it can get pretty weird.

overall, I like it.

How's the character interactions? That's the thing I enjoyed most about Peacemaker and The Boys. Invincible was how vast the world building was and some interesting issues it delves into like Invincible accidently crushing an old lady he was trying to save.

Top tier. Highlight of the show.

From what I know (haven't read the comics so can't say for sure) they don't have a ton in common at this point.

The general plot of Umbrella Academy is that the world is going to end, and its up to them to save it. Each character has their own unique ability, and they all hate their father, for reasons that are explained in the show. There isn't really as much gore as in Invincible or The Boys, but I enjoyed it for what it was.

I would say that The Umbrella Academy is less a show about superheroes and more a drama or soap opera with super powered people in it. The focus is very much on the drama, to the point that it gets in the way of the plot, and not about the powers. There are situations where the powers complicate things, but they almost always resolve in an unsatisfactory cliffhanger to keep the drama going. It's closer to a CW show than The Boys.
