Maybe this was ages ago, but I just noticed they finally (after what, 15 years of saying it was a stupid idea and liking having dead Xbox, handhelds etc. boards?) gave games one board each.

ATM a game search still shows separate boards for each platform, but it's all the same board.

I proposed this idea years ago and the people who responded said it was a bad idea.

I remember doing it as far as back as when we arguing about Snake's eye colour in Metal Gear Solid 3 on Gamespot!

even the boards for remasters and remakes have been merged with the originals, from what I've seen, with the exception of something like Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, which I assume is because it has a different title.

And now we got wikis for games too, sad fact is I been coming here since I was a kid and now I almost never come here for video game stuff anymore.

Yeah I think I suggested it around the time Fallout 3 came out. The reason I made the suggestion was obvious, instead of splitting the fan base between boards, you instead have one larger board where activity declines much more slowly over time.

Even back then, most people would sort of pick the most active board for a multiplatform game and when making topics where the version mattered, they would just specify (this was before we had flairs)flair.

They are probably running out of money for storage space.

It seems a lot do need to go. So many dead 'interests' boards, and many that are just crazies going round 'claiming' them.

Then there's that Sonic board that's just one guy with 10000 posts replying to himself like a conversation. Panda something.

Theres no legitimate reason not to
merge the boards. Just add tags for each edition of the game.

they did a beta of merging the boards a while back, but botched it because they also changed the sites format or some shot for the worse and made it a terrible experience. They should make it the same that it is now but just merged and nothing else changed

It's like people don't understand that splitting up a fan base is bad. Game boards die fast when the user base is small and the amount of people making topics is even smaller.

So COWZ was this shitposter from the Marvel 3 board who was pretty good at the game. We later found out that COWZ was actually this pro player named Ryan LV who ended up winning the final UMvC3 Evo tournament and lots of other events.

Anyway, before it was found out that COWZ was Ryan LV, he had a series of matches (first to 10 I think, but I'm not sure) with a poster named NoizyChild. NoizyChild is this very arrogant mid-level player who thinks he's better than everyone else because he goes to tournaments while most of the people on any given fighting game board don't.

NoizyChild is something of a bully to people he feels comfortable are beneath him but cowers in fear of people who he knows would dust him. So at the time COWZ was something of a troll on the boards and would shill Chun Li who is considered to be not one of the better characters in UMvC3, and NoizyChild, thinking he knows better than everyone else challenges COWZ and gets fucking washed effortlessly.

It should have happened a long time ago after the disastrous xbox one launch killed the boards.

I've been just using the ps4 boards for games I am interested in for years.

Yeah, all the new games are instantly covered by other websites. GameFAQs is really only good for old games, and even the most popular of those are being covered by Wikis.

Yeah, no kidding. I came here for the cheat codes and occasional guide walkthroughs. Now I'm only here for the boards. Cheat codes don't exist anymore and you can get help for a walkthrough from YT.

Convenient that you say you have to sit through the entire video but not through the entire written guide.

You can ctrl + f through written guides in like 1/10 of the time it takes you to search for some vague thumbnail cue for exactly what you need.

There are advantages to both, but written guides are so much faster on average

When I get stuck in a game, I just Google it and the results that come up are faster.

GameFAQs doesn't really come up that often, but when it does I get linked to the boards not a guide.

There's nothing ambiguous about watching a person play and do exactly it is what you're looking for too. Sometimes, guide writers aren't specifically clear about something, if they ever write about it at all. There are so many unfinished guides here.

Agreed. Wikis will tell you the optimal method of doing things but if you want less obscure or more specific or ways of doing things, that will often lead here to gamefaqs. Sure a wiki might tell you the optimal mage build but if you've decided to level an orc into a mage class, gamefaqs might be the place to find out how

Well, it's really easy to prove you wrong. Try describing a youtube video you just saw and now try to watch it at max speed. Which is faster? Don't be obtuse and make a long description either. A well written guide (obviously not saying every written guide is efficient) will absolutely be faster to consume than a video. Imagine having to watch the actual action that could've been a quick 1 sentence direction or description.

Unless you also want to somehow argue you can ctrl f to a specific part of the video. Bias and copium run to the level of insanity over here lmfao

It's good if they could consolidate the topic search. It only searches for topics for the specific board you are on which is annoying when there are a lot of versions.

i dont see a reason for making different boards for the same game either just cause it has multiple versions.

like you can make a topic addressing issues to a specific platform of the same game. *shrugs*

Every thread has a tag next to it stating which platform you're talking about.

And tbh, most threads aren't platform specific anyway. It's far better than having multiple slow ass boards for one game.

I never understood why people anti sign petitions.

If you don't like the suggestion just don't vote.

Over the years I've been here, I've seen tons of suggestions that were anti signed heavily, but still got added down the line.
