Honestly, it probably has the strongest start of any MCU show

EDIT: Also I just don't see why this is getting compared to The Boys? Not only do streaming shows not have to worry about the whole "competing for airtime" thing that conventional cable has to worry about, but they're also two fundamentally different, literally polar-opposite shows. I can't imagine The Boys audience is eating out of Ms. Marvel's audience or vice-versa.

Basically, this is a function of the strong, unchecked misconceptions many people have based on the a mix of dumbass to semi-valid reasons. Racism, sexism, anti-Muslim sentiment, combined with ideas that the show is "not for them" or looks cheap, is too youth focused, doesn't seem important, or they're unfamiliar with the character. The most valid reason I've seen is the change to her powers, but it doesn't seem like most of the people popping off about the show were fans enough to actually care about that.

I want to care about the character but I just don't.

******Potential spoilers ahead******

From the beginning she seemed a bit too stupid to be believable. I know it's possible but it seems improbable to reverse your car into your instructor's car, but she didn't just do that, she slammed the gas, there are almost 0 situations that would require anyone to do such a thing, much less during a driving test.

I get that it's trying to be "awkward teen" bs but come on. And then neither vehicle had sustained any damage, but his was being towed away?

Yeah yeah, kids show, things don't have to be super serious, but come on if they can't even make something minor like that believable then should I just expect any random thing to happen because it's a kids show?

The overbearing parent thing was quite nice and very relatable.

I like the random effects that they use to "enhance" scenes, I don't like them when she's doing them in her head. It makes me worry that if she were in a dire situation she might just go daydreaming and mess something up.
Thus far I don't think she's responsible/mature enough to wield any power and in ep 2 they show that she's not good enough to be a hero if all she cares about is the fame and attention.

I'm still watching the whole season and hoping that her character improves but right now she's the worst part of the show, even her tech-y friend is a lot better.

I definitely had a different read on this scene. The look she gave her instructor after he replied to her prayer as if she had sneezed gave me the impression that it was a deliberate move on her part.

Yeah many of the complaints seem to vary from petty to stupid. It's fine if its not your style but to complain she's not hyper-competent right off the bat....

I also didn't even see much advertisement for the show. I'm sure it is a lot better than Moonknight though.
Pretty much this.

It's been a fun two episodes but it's kinda hard to justify watching it when The Boys is ten times more entertaining, better social commentary, and packs a bunch more content per episode.

Youre allowed to watch both.

I'm worried Peter Parker isn't going to be a very good superhero. He gets superpowers and the first thing he does is enter a wrestling contest so he can buy a car for the girl he has a crush on?

Its an okay show. I actually liked Moon Knight more. However I was going to skip Moon Knight completely and only watched because a friend recommended it.

Ill keep watching Ms Marvel, but it is definitely for a young audience. There are some nice funny moments too. Maybe it will get better. At the very least its nice to see some variety in the marvel Tv shows.

To be fair, that wasnt still the plot line 1 hour and 20 mins into the film. And the film showed you villains before that. And Peter had other problems before that.

Ms Marvel is boring as shit and its sooooooo drawn out. Everybody tune in next week when Ms Marvel waits in line at the DMV!

...no. This isn't a movie. It's a short series. It takes time to flesh out her world and characters, yeah.

And 2 episodes in we have 2 villain factions already. It's just not wall to wall action. It's not that kind of show. That's ok..

The people at the mosque cant be racist or evil landlords or secret bad guys.
I mean there's the thing about the women's section being treated poorly. Nakia's subplot.

RedRanger posted...
No one is allowed to be bad. And that just isnt compelling television. You need a foil or an antagonist, and you dont have that with this show.
2 episodes in, 2 antagonistic factions! (well the second is presumed, but you know they will be)

RedRanger posted...
If this show was half as progressive as it wanted to be then theyd allow at least one muslim character to be an antagonist.
Kamran and his mom.

Heroes need antagonist. People to struggle against.

With Obi Wan/The Boys being week to week I just CBA to get in to another weekly show. When Obi-Wan and Boys finish up and all episodes of Ms Marvel are out ill binge it and make a decision on it then.

Right now I just don't care enough to watch it weekly.
