Faded Dream has some good instrumentation, but it's used in some bizarre ways I don't like--as if there's constantly one instrument trying to step on top of the other parts of the piece. Tractatus Logico-philosophicus is pretty cool. Love the way the weird synth sounds transition into a pretty bell/xylophone(?) melody towards the beginning

I probably like Apex of the World less than I should. It's got pretty instrumentation and competent composition, but there's still something intangible missing from it for me that holds it back from greatness. The vibe I get from it is that someone sat down and tried to create a "sad song" but that they didn't actually have anything of their own to express. I don't know--that is such an arbitrary statement that it feels wrong to complain about it, but for better or for worse this is my experience with the song. After all that I'm still going to vote it though because Hustle and Bustle is very repetitive and doesn't really do much to interest me.

I really like the instrumentation on #4 dunno, but it also doesn't feel like the song really goes anywhere when it should? I dunno. Not the biggest Unknown Pollution fan but it's fine. Not much else I want to say there.

just quick notes today:
-I've mentioned this before but I first noticed Tractatus when lem posted it in discord before the chain collab game; I thought it was pretty cool at the time, and found I revisited it more than I'd expected. there's sort of a charming, playful feel to this track, the way different little synth elements show up, light and airy and sparkling, but also a tightly controlled seriousness in its strict eighth-note rhythm and a sober, almost sad edge to the melody, which wanders less than it seems like it might; the way the piano and pizzicato strings wind itself around the bell melody is something I really enjoy
-every time I listen to apex I'm reminded of how much I like the monotone vocal line at the start and the section at 2:00 that uses no-decay hard-gating rhythm game piano
-#4 dunno makes me think of strange free-roaming puzzle or level creation stages; it's very whimsical in a way I don't find in a lot of other vgm I've heard, especially 0:24 (and its lead in) whose progression is just really clever to me

Feel so bad im never voting for the new kirby ost this contest because i like everything i have heard. Well maybe i will in some r2 if these songs get there.

dunno was instantly one of my fav splatoon 2 songs when i first heard it. Might even be my overall #1 at this point from the series? I like mathematical minimalism and electronic stuff, what can i say, it reminds me of metroid and i like metroid. Octo expansion single player campaign is particularly on my to play list because the game seems like something i would like, and feeling that the music is cool only helps my incentive, but my backlog is too big so i may never play itwho knows (i have not played splatoon for even 1 second, but i think the game looks pretty cool, and sounds even cooler!)

The extra world only has 2 level themes. Faded Dream of a Psychomeddler is a remix of another FL song, A Trip to Alivel Mall, and the other, Scattered Souls Across Isolated Isles, is a remix as RtDL's Another Dimension/Looming Darkness theme as mentioned

Pretty decent pick from Kirby, even if I favor Blizzard Bridge much more. Tractatus's synths sound pretty cool to me, they kinda make me imagine if someone took certain older Bomberman songs and remade them in a modern version.

Hustle and Bustle [8.5]

This is a tough matchup. The "butchered" version of Apex that I regularly listen to (which combines both the Rain and Thunder versions together) keeps making me think there should be stronger percussion in certain parts of the song, and that's really what I want more from Rain. Hustle and Bustle is a solid groove, albeit one that goes into a little too much repetition around the second half of the loop. Other than that though, I love the slow buildup in this as well as the "Daft Punk" vocals that come with it too.

I kinda dig the quirkyness that #4 dunno gives me, even if the melody isn't too strong for it. But Unknown Pollution just comes in, guns and drums/piano/e-guitar blazing. I always loved the energy that UP unleashes on you, ready to jump into the fray. Great song, it's definitely earned my vote here.
