How old were you?

Despite being a Nintendo child, for the most part, I didn't play Zelda until 2008, so I was 15. Or at least not in any meaningful/memorable capacity.

You'd think I'd have played one a lot earlier considering I liked playing as Link a lot in both Smash 64 and Melee

Not sure, but probably in the 6-8 range. I don't remember if my daycare had the original LoZ, but I think it did. Either way, I got Lttp when my parents bought me an SNES.

I may have tried some on a Gameboy but I think the first I actually played and owned was WindWaker...for like 5 hours before I realized I'm not a fan of Zelda games.

Started the first LoZ game at age 5. Beat it at age 6, beat the second quest later that year

I think I was 9 when I played the original for the first time, but I may have been 10 - I got the NES for Christmas when I was 9, and I know I got Zelda during that first year of having one.

I had played the original before I knew how to read...so had to be like 5-6?
I figured out how to "unlock" Dungeon 5 all on my own as well as a few other things, too.

Anywhere from 5-7. My older cousin had Zelda and Zelda 2, and I'd play them occasionally (didn't buy my own copies until a couple years later). I enjoyed Zelda 1 a bit and can still deeply appreciate it for what it was, but my fandom didn't really take off until LttP.

I'm not sure if I was 5 or 6 when my parents bought a SNES and LttP. We had a NES before then, but I don't think we had LoZ (and I was probably only like 4 when they gave the console away to my cousins).
