I'm surprised the drops aren't higher lately since they're dressing far more feminine and using that in the thumbnails these days. Can you show the rates from say, 6 months ago?

Does he do some kind of unpopular weekend upload that people just dont want to see first thing of the week?

That's why I asked for numbers from late last year. But yeah, plenty of comments when I saw it yesterday like "you used to be sooooo much better before you transitioned" like that isn't insulting as hell.

Sterling has somehow managed to become even more relentlessly negative over the past two years or so. It's gotten to the point where the videos are so self-righteous and indignant, I find them off-putting even when I agree with them. It doesn't help that virtually every video has the same message. There's a difference between "I'm the only one talking about the abuses in the game industry" and "I'm going to repeat the same shit to the same people until the end of time."

Spoiler alert, in the face of triple A bullshit and rising fascism and bigotry all over the world it should be impossible for vulnerable minorities not to be aware of how negative the fucking world is.

The only thing that really changed with Sterling in the last few years was, in addition to games that are awful, they've signal boosted the issue of game developers that are awful from a workplace standpoint.

And maybe people don't want to hear about the fact that there's human suffering behind the games they enjoy.

Yet it's real.

That's my biggest issue with them.

Their points aren't bad/wrong but it's just the same negativity again and again. I know gaming companies suck, and I just often don't want to be depressed more about things not improving on things I can't change.

I don't think they should stop or what they are doing is bad, and it is good to highlight these things. But I just feel that their latest ones just feel unneeded now I do know. It's the same point again and again. And... what is the point in watching for me now I'm aware?

If your mission is to inform the world of how vile the games industry is - maybe find a way to keep people listening to it? If every day is "Ubisoft is one giant sex scandal" "Activision literally eats its employees in the cafeteria" and "EA even makes pressing start a loot box" - there's no reason to keep watching. You know what Sterling's gonna say.

But what about their video on Hades?

Yup. My feeling as well tbh.

They do occasionally put out other video's praising well made games made by decent companies, but it feels pretty rare in comparison to reminding us Activision and Blizzard are scum.

Like I know the video game industry is fueled by scummy practices, it just feels like Im wallowing in that knowledge when I watch their videos, despite them usually being on the nose

At this point it feels like Jim's preaching to the choir, and I can't help but wonder what Jim even hopes to accomplish by telling the believers to continue believing.

Jim really needs a specific event to make engaging content out of, like the whole Deus Ex Makind Divided thing, Jim got excellent content out of for a few months.

But something happened I dunno, 3 years ago, where either Jim stopped wanting to make content like that, or the catalyst for it just dried up and the channel stagnated into boring repetition for six - nine months before they came out, and the content didn't really get better afterwards.

Occasionally I dig into a chronological playlist of Jimquisition and pick out a random pre 2020 video and usually they're fucking great, even removed from their current event of discussion.

The ones with the "energy" to unsubscribe are proportionally in the same sort of camp or happen to dislike trans-related anything.

I have almost zero interest in The Jimquisition any more. Not because of Jim, but because the game industry's continuous slide into deeper and deeper levels of exploitative filth really gets me down.

I always tune in for Jimpressions though. Recently their video on Pokemon Arceus Legends convinced me to buy the game and I'm so glad I did.

I unsubbed because I was tired of getting Jimquisition notifications on my phone.

I used to LOVE Jim's steam greenlight videos. Watching Jim shit all over garbage games was a straight up joy. But fuck, nothing I've seen has been on that level since that series ended.

Also really? Blaming unsubs on a phobia? Jesus. Didn't Jim also have that whole thing with Deadly Premonition 2? Like a meltdown of sorts? I remember hearing about that but couldn't be assed to actually pay attention.

Maybe if they posted something positive once in awhile? It's just the same "bad thing is bad" like we know you said that in your last 20 videos. The meltdown video about not hitting one million didn't help either. Also feel the need to state I'm trans and have said it in the past as well
