Mixed feelings. I do wish Kouji Mori the best and hope he can handle the backlash, as even if it's excellent there's going to be a lot of it.

I, however, will be going in with a very open mind.

I'm glad we will get a conclusion. I didn't expect one before Miura passes away, so whatever we get from here on out is just bonus.

I just recently finished Vol 12

Miura is probably the most influential person ever to work in the dark fantasy genre so I guess it's time to see just how much that influence colored his team. Whatever this ends up being, it won't be his, but maybe it can still inherit his spirit. I can definitely imagine this is what he would have wanted, so I don't have any issues there. We've all got to keep struggling.

The reaction online seems to be surprisingly well received and hopeful. At worst, people who would have preferred they let it lie, but who don't seem outraged. I was honestly expecting some real vitriol, this is a pleasant surprise.

Probably because most people accepted that the manga wouldn't have finished if Miura were alive. Better to get an ending than to abruptly end on that chapter. Realistically all this new guy has to do is have Guts go on a rampage and kill a bunch of the God Hands Kratos style and then end up like the Skull Knight at the end.

My stance on whether it "had" to go on changed pretty strongly from before that final post mortem chapter came out to after. The final chapter released during his life would have been a bittersweet but appropriate ending page. The actual final chapter released from Miura after his death was the exact OPPOSITE, a chapter that started an entire new explosion of conjecture and confusion, and is maybe one of the worst final chapters to leave off of I could imagine.

I'm not surprised. Most fans want a conclusion, and even if it isn't Miura's, the fact that his team seems so reverent of him and his legacy is probably refreshing to the fanbase. This genuinely seems like a labor of love and duty, not some executive-mandated cash grab.

Berserk is something that deserves a proper conclusion.
