This disgusts me. Does it disgust you, and if not, why not?

When it happens, it disgusts me, but most married people don't cheat.

Cheaters are horrible. Especially since they usually blame their partners.

I think it's more useful to understand what causes infidelity and presumably unhappy marriages, than just instantly sign the person off as terrible.

Infidelity is wrong, but maybe there's some bullshit the married couple could work out if they communicated better.

Also I don't think it's the worst crime in the world, although people treat it like it is. Shrug.

To be honest, I don't think the concept of marriage is psychologically compatible with most of humanity, especially with the conveniences of modern society.

It doesn't matter what the issue is, it never excuses cheating. If there are problems with the relationship and you want to cheat, then end the relationship. Continuing it but cheating and breaking someone's trust behind their back makes the person a shithead.

That's the thing, most people don't communicate clearly and openly in their relationships. "I can never tell what they're thinking" isn't a good thing to be able to say about your partner unless they're very much a head in the clouds day dreamer or romantic. It means you don't understand them well enough to at least be able to have a starting point for conversations. Factor in how our society punishes men for being emotional in any way other than angry or happy and well... There's so many issues as a result. Plus with how we glamorize a fancy wedding but not finding someone to marry who fulfills you...

"Yeah, we thought the other was hot and had tons of sex and moved in together and she was pregnant within a year and now we're married with 3 kids and it turns out that being a parent is difficult and since we live together I am now aware that early on she was able to cover up her flaws but now I've seen that she is in fact human and needs more in life than just sex. I got it, I'll go hook up with that 19 year old from work."

Yup. My wife cheated on me, lied to me about it, and intentionally started treating me badly to get me to break up with her (she both lied about this and then admitted that's what she was doing). She would never be honest about her feelings. At one point, I asked her point-blank if she wanted to get a divorce, she said yes, and I understandably withdrew at that point. Cue her crying and whining and trying to be sweet and loving, saying she didn't mean it (and then a week later she stormed out and nearly ruined my entire life).

Cheaters are scum of the Earth and I genuinely wish the worst for my wife. I hope they repo her car. I hope she gets fired from her job (and she really should because she slacks off all the time AND does coke while holding a security clearance). I hope she ends up homeless and has to give her cats up to someone who will actually take care of them. I hope she experiences every ounce of despair and hell that she put me through.

I know plenty of people who cheated on tests in school. You know they cheated because they still didn't get a perfect score.

Cheating happens.

alot of people get married for stupid reasons:

1. they were temporarily infatuated and rushed into it. Later find out they either don't even like that person, no longer are attracted to them, or both
2. they felt they had to have a husband\wife for their ego and self-worth to actualize
3. financial security
4. belief that their constant loneliness would go away if they got married

I think people in conventional relationships do awful shit to each other all the time that gets a pass because they talk about it and argue and come to some kind of understanding, but they never take the time to work things out when it comes to infidelity.

Basically, I think cheating should be looked at like any other marital problem and not put on its own sacred moral pedestal.

I appreciate my view on this might not be the norm.
