Started watching it with my fiancee in September of 2020 and we're going through season 13 now. Getting close to the end, but I don't want it to.

Heard it got worse once it became about angels and demons; I disagree. If anything, it gets better at that point. There have definitely been some meh episodes and season 7 was pretty bad (did not like the Leviathans at all, Dick Roman was also a terrible villain and if they wanted to kill off Bobby, they should've done so with someone better than HIM), but overall it's been a great experience. I think the last time I was this invested in a fictional series was when I was following the Naruto manga. And I don't usually watch live action shows.

Charlie was probably the best character in the show (which is saying a lot) and pretty much the only good thing to come out of season 7, but they killed her off. =/ I would have dropped the show at that point if it weren't so good. And now Crowley is dead, but at least he made it through a majority of the show. I do have some complaints though, like certain characters dying multiple times and coming back each time. The end of season 3 had me on the edge of my seat, but at this point in the series death doesn't usually mean anything. It's also kind of inconsistent. Why is Charlie not able to come back, for instance?

S1-5 is the arc that was originally intended, so everything after is pretty much bonus

If you like it past S5, then that's good. It definitely has it's ups and down. It wouldn't be as enjoyable without the chemistry of the main characters

I was super sad when it ended. Had been watching it on television week to week since halfway through the first season, with my brother. Lots of parallels in our relationship.

I heard about that but I don't see how that would have ever worked. Too many loose ends, and Crowley was *just* introduced.

I heard about that as well. I watched the trailer but didn't pick up on anything other than John being a hunter before Mary died.

While I'm at it, the last quarter of season 12 was off-the-wall amazing. I was actually not particularly impressed by this season at first but god damn it picked up fast. If the later seasons get even better than that, then wow.

The upcoming spin-off looks like garbage, though.

It gets better if you can stomach the worst season of them all (7, dear god it sucked).

I think it was alright, the most important aspect was that it broke ALOT of Supernatural conventions, tropes, storyline structure.

For that, I'm appreciative. It had a completely different/unique vibe then any other Supernatural season.

The upcoming spin-off looks like garbage, though.

I'm willing to give it a chance as long as it follows the story of a different Multiverse Dean Winchester and his parents.

Honestly good for so many seasons but then gets a bit too much for me to bother with.

You say that with hindsight though. If they'd ended at S5, Crowley would have been just a dude.

I thought he became King of Hell in season 5. I guess I'm remembering wrong. This series is so long there's a LOT to remember.

I often wonder how much foreshadowing there is to later events in the earlier episodes.

He was King of the Crossroads, but I'm almost certain he only becomes the king of hell in season 6. Lucifer was in charge, after all.

..but it does mean they understand some of the reasons why I like it, which is what I was getting at...

I recently heard an interview with Mark Sheppard who played Crowley and it seems like the studio or whatever did him dirty which is why he was killed off and never came back. He was one of the best parts of the show.

I mean you know I do that as a joke right? I hate that game and think it sucks, but it is just a game. It'd be a waste of energy to actually fight the people who like it with any amount of seriousness. It's all just entertainment.

Some people aren't and never are, and it can be hard to tell sometimes.

So where did the supernatural power scale end up? I watched until mid-way through season 13.

My guess having not watched the final 3 seasons:

1) God
2) The Darkness (when I last watched she may have been more powerful than God but I assume that get's changed)
3) Michael
4) Lucifer
5) Hard spot here. Death, Dick Roman, powered up Castiel, Eve, Gabriel or Raphael all seem reasonable here. Maybe powered up Metatron? Or I could see Crowley somehow powering up in the last few seasons.

Amara does seem a bit more powerful than Chuck, but I haven't finished the series yet. I know Chuck comes back but no clue about Amara.
