$260 is more than enough to live on, just need to substitute some food, and sacrifice some luxury -- for example I buy Potato Peel from my local diner (a massive bag for a couple of dollars), and use it to make soup and mashed Potatoes.

For the last two weeks I've gotten paid, I got basically $263/week take home.

I take 400 home every 2 weeks.

Maybe 20 years ago I was, and I understand what it's like trying to make a life on that little money.

600-800 a week here.

I get about $500 a week but don't pay rent or bills so I feel pretty well off

I get paid in tips in a diner. I have one more day of my week and I have $415. Tuesday is usually slow I doubt I'll make as much. Then I also get my paycheck tomorrow and that's usually $100. I average around 300 or so per week in tips.

Some people have asked me why I don't just go elsewhere because of my boss but I tell them that its hard to find a decent job that would pay me so well. I have so many regulars, why would I leave a place where I've set my nest? My customers love me and going anywhere else, I'd have to start over and feel like I start from the bottom.

Yeah well I never finished college and I live in south Louisiana and don't have to earn as much thankfully. My apartment costs only 400 a month. $2100 is probably not a lot where you're living? I don't know.

I don't see how people live off that little. My weekly checks are usually between $450-500 after taxes and it's still tight. I don't even have a car. I don't eat out. I don't buy lots of fancy things.

I think we're missing some context here...

I get $327.50/week after taxes, but my employer provides housing and food five days a week. Were supposed to start getting paid overtime for our time as staff on duty which would be a nice bump so well see if that happens. Im also currently in Louisiana and pay is based on the state the program is in.

probably like 1,500 a week I guess? I get paid bi weekly
